The early years are a busy time for little brains! We are all in it together and it is in life's everyday moments that we are helping our little ones thrive in their own way.

Some quick tips for busy parents to boost your toddler’s language skills! You don’t need anything fancy to help them—just everyday moments and plenty of connection.

👂 Listen and Pause: Give your child time to respond—silence is golden! It helps them find their words and builds confidence.

🧸 Follow Their Lead: Talk about what they’re doing or interested in. If they’re playing with a car, say “Zoom! The car is going fast!”

📚 Read Every Day: Books build vocabulary and spark imagination. Choose short, colourful stories and name what you see on each page. Kids love repetition, and when you're ready for something new, the library has a great collection!

🎶 Sing Together: Nursery rhymes and songs are great for rhythm, memory, and learning new words.

🤗 Repeat and Expand: If your child says “doggy,” you can say “Yes! The doggy is barking!” This helps grow their sentences.

💬 Remember: every word, gesture, and giggle counts💛

🧠✨ Keep it simple. Keep it playful. Keep it YOU🧠✨

If you are worried don't hesitate to seek guidance from your local GP, Child and Health Nurse or reach out to us.

🖤💛❤️ NAIDOC Week 2025 💚💙🤍
The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy.

This NAIDOC Week, we stand together to celebrate the proud history, resilience, and voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the sharing of this wisdom across generations for a strong future.

At Emerge we honour the cultures and stories of First Nations children and families. We believe every child deserves to grow up feeling strong in their identity, confident in their voice, and proud of who they are.

💙 No matter the NDIS changes,
our commitment remains. 💙

NDIS changes came into play yesterday. We have strongly advocated against these changes as could not see in any reality how they supported best practice in working with children and the innate disadvantage they had to regional and rural communities. We will continue to stand up for you and each other against this and other changes being rolled in such as block funding and independent assessments.

Our values and our dedication to supporting children where and when they need it, particularly in regional communities remains stronger than ever. We want to ensure every child gets the care, opportunities, and support they deserve.

Whilst there may be minor changes, we have worked hard to find ways to ensure your service remains the same. Unfortunately, NDIS changes means that we can no longer head out to the North West Coast under these current restrictions (we will be back!!). In addition, we have seen some families lose supports due to the restrictive nature of the wording in their plans simply not allowing us to be able to provide the supports they need.

We feel deeply for all the families across Tasmania and Australia losing vital supports because of these changes.

We thankyou for your understanding during this time and trusting that we have you and your child’s best interests at heart and in the first instance hope you will feel no impact with these changes and if you do we will work alongside you to find a solution.

🌱 We stand with you. We’ll keep showing up. We’re not going anywhere.

“Do you remember your favourite way to play when you were young?
Today we celebrate Play Therapy Day!
Play is how children learn, develop problem solving skills, learn to cope with frustration and build resilience, practice for the unexpected and try on different roles and emotions.
In the midst of changes to NDIS funding we are so grateful that your children still have access to this vital, evidence-based form of psychotherapy.”

🌟Please take a moment to sign and share this petition about upcoming changes to the NDIS.

Right now, changes are being introduced that will make it even harder for children and those with complex disability to access vital supports, particularly those living in rural and remote communities where services are already limited. These changes will most significantly impact those who already face the greatest barriers to access services due to poverty, culture, language, or location.

This is a decision that impacts us all. It doesn't matter if you are not currently an NDIS participant or have a family member receiving NDIS supports - anyone, at any point in their lives may require disability services. Our disabled communities shouldn't have to fight for the basics like communication, mobility, or independence. Everybody deserves to live with dignity! ✊

!! IMPORTANT WE MUST ACT NOW BEFORE IT IS TO LATE!!

We know how busy your life is which is why we generally work behind the scenes advocating and quietly absorbing the blows the NDIS National Disability Insurance Scheme serves! Their latest however stands to hit Tassie kids, young people and families hard and so we are reaching out to you for help to stop this happening.

The NDIS is intending to introduce changes on the 1st July that not only threaten the ongoing viability of allied health services but with changes to travel, threaten the existence of supports for kids in the communities they live - despite best practice in early intervention telling us this is what kids need to do well!

The NDIS intends to reduce rates for many Tasmanian allied health practitioners, or continue to freeze rates - potentially forcing them out of working in the NDIS space and even more shocking they intend to make such significant cuts to travel support that many much needed services are under threat.

X Home visits
X School visits
X Community visits
X Outreach services to rural communities

Tasmanians deserve local in person supports when and where they need it!!

We have posted a video below where you can share your story or feel free to join us in sending a message to those elected to represent your voice with a simple message:

"Not good enough NDIS, we value our therapists and Tassie deserves better! - Abolish the cut, fix the freeze, keep rural loadings and restore travel support"
