🌟 We're thrilled to share that Respire Australia is proudly supporting important research by providing 50 IMT/PEP (EMT) devices. These devices will be part of a new trial exploring how universal tele-prehabilitation can be integrated into cancer care pathways.
Abdominal surgery is one of the most common major surgical procedures in developed countries, and complications after surgery can significantly impact patient recovery and increase healthcare costs. Previous research has demonstrated that pre-operative IMT training can improve post-operative respiratory outcomes. This trial emphasizes the value of pre-surgery patient education, focusing on deep breathing—where our devices will be utilised—along with oral care, physical activity, nutrition, and pain management, all of which are key strategies in reducing post-surgical complications.
