Aorta’s purpose is to inspire and educate dentists and dental teams to the power of clear aligners and virtual interdisciplinary smile creation
Our Story
Aesthetic Orthodontics is a contemporary branch of dentistry, performed mainly on adults, which moves away from the traditional angle class I treatment goal and instead focuses on the dento-facial aesthetic complex by incorporating tooth movement, tooth augmentation (veneers, bonding), whitening and surrounding soft tissue augmentation (fillers, botox). In a world where constant photography and high social expectation, coupled with the aesthetic nature of clear aligners, the uptake of orthodontic treatment in the adult population has never been higher.
In the same time, the oversupply of dentists in Australia has resulted in workforce changes. Tooth movement traditionally has been left to specialists orthodontist, however with quieter appointment books and a desire to provide comprehensive treatment to their adult patients, the last decade has seen many general dentists upskill themselves to provide safe and efficient orthodontic treatment and subsequent aesthetic finishing.
The thing is, whilst many general dentists are now trained in providing orthodontic treatment – they have not received training in how to implement an efficient workflow to enable it to become a highly earning and highly rewarding aspect of their practice. And hence, the lack of training resulted in many upskilled dentists not even coming close to realising the potential to this exciting branch of dentistry.
Aesthetic Orthodontic and Restorative Training Academy (AORTA) is the brain-child of Dr John Hagiliassis and was started to address this big gap in the dental industry where up-skilled dentists are not utilising their ability due to a lack of implementation and systemisation of aesthetic orthodontics in their practice. Dr John has been practicing aesthetic orthodontics for the lasts 10 years in Melbourne’s CBD and built a multimillion dollar practice on the backbone of the aesthetic orthodontic philosophy. He has been mentoring dentists in this approach for the last 7 years and has developed a systemised approach to communication and technology that allowed him to become a platinum invisalign provider and top 10 provider in Australasia.
The goal of AORTA is simple – it exists simply to educate and empower dental practices to successfully implement aesthetic orthodontics and restorative treatment using specialised processes and systems whereby allowing maximum efficiency.
Mission statement
