New faces, fresh energy, and two more big hearts joining the team. We love to see it. ☀️

We’re so happy to introduce Mia and Jordyn, our newest support workers at Above & Beyond. 🙌🏻

Mia is currently studying Occupational Therapy at Australian Catholic University, and joining Above & Beyond felt like a natural first step in her journey. She’s passionate about helping people participate in meaningful everyday life and supporting them to do the things that matter most to them.

For Jordyn, support work is close to home. Growing up with a mum who worked in support services, she saw firsthand the difference compassionate care can make. That inspiration stayed with her and led her to follow a similar path. Working with people, building independence, and creating genuine connections is what motivates her every day.

We’re incredibly excited to have Mia and Jordyn as part of the team. 💛 Stay tuned because we’ll be introducing each of them properly very soon. 🤝🏻

Feeling safe is everything. 🛡️

When kids or adults feel seen, heard, and understood, they can explore, learn, and grow without fear. Emotional safety is the quiet magic that makes trust, confidence, and progress possible.

We love to create spaces where emotional safety comes first. Support isn’t about fixing, it’s about walking alongside someone, with patience, kindness, and sometimes a little silliness too. ☀️🤪

Consistency isn’t just showing up. It’s the quiet superpower that transforms support into something meaningful. 🦸🏻‍♀️

Having the same familiar, dedicated support worker over time helps build deep trust and security, especially for people with complex needs or those who’ve had negative experiences with services. That trust becomes the foundation for real connection, calm, and confidence.

Consistency also makes it easier to notice the little things: subtle changes in mood, behavior, or health 👉🏻 so issues can be addressed quickly, keeping participants safe and supported. 🌿

When routines and caregivers are predictable, anxiety decreases and emotional regulation improves. Goals become achievable, step by step, instead of just filling shifts. And because participants don’t need to re-explain their needs every time, communication becomes smoother and progress happens faster. 💛

DID YOU KNOW ❓

Being around animals can help children and adults feel calmer, more emotionally regulated, and more confident because animals create a safe, non-judgmental environment. 🤗

Animals don’t place expectations, rush responses, or judge behaviour. This allows people to relax, lower stress levels, and feel accepted just as they are. For many children, especially those experiencing big emotions, animals can help regulate the nervous system by providing comfort, predictability, and a sense of safety. 🐎

This calming presence can make it easier to communicate, build trust, and engage socially. Over time, these positive interactions can support emotional regulation, confidence, and a stronger sense of connection. 🤝🏻

At the heart of Above and Beyond is Kathryn… and her very important co-worker, Mia 🐾

Above and Beyond was founded by Kathryn, a support worker with years of frontline experience and a belief that support should feel safe, consistent, and genuinely human.. but also warm, joyful, and a fun! 🤪

Kathryn brings a nurturing, playful energy into her work. She’s the kind of person who can sit with big emotions one moment, and make a child laugh the next. She creates spaces where kids and adults feel safe to be themselves, where pressure melts away, and where connection comes first.

And then there’s Mia... 👇🏻

Often by Kathryn’s side, Mia adds something special. A calming presence and soft distraction. Sometimes support comes through conversation, and sometimes it comes with four paws and a wagging tail. 🐶

Together, Kathryn and Mia represent what Above and Beyond is really about: support without pressure, care with kindness, and being truly present. 🧡

Why do we do what we do? 🤔

👉🏻 Because kids deserve more than just support, they deserve to thrive in environments where care feels safe and big feelings are met with patience, not pressure.

👉🏻 Because adults deserve the same dignity, opportunity, and encouragement to grow in ways that feel right for them.

We believe kindness is powerful, trust comes first, and real support never forces change. Progress looks different for everyone, and consistency is what helps people feel secure enough to move forward. This is why we show up the way we do: ✨ with compassion, understanding, and support that meets people exactly where they are. ✨

At Above and Beyond, everything we do is guided by one simple belief: everyone deserves to feel safe, supported, and understood. ☝🏻

We know that support is never “one size fits all.” Every child, adult, and family is different – with their own needs, strengths, and ways of navigating the world. That’s why we take the time to really get to know the people we support, rather than fitting them into a preset model.

👀 Our vision is to build a community where people feel emotionally safe, respected, and empowered to be themselves.

🎯 Our mission is to provide support that is neuroaffirming, trauma-informed, and truly person-centred. In practice, that means showing up consistently, meeting people where they are, and building trust through patience, understanding, and genuine human connection.

Meaningful support doesn’t just help people get through the day. It helps them feel confident, capable, and seen.

We work in a way that’s consistent and respectful, understanding that predictability builds confidence and emotional safety, especially for children navigating big emotions. 👦🏼

Founded in 2023 by Kathryn, with long history in frontline support work and behaviour management. Above and Beyond was created to deliver support that’s not only effective, but genuinely human. 🫂
