Facial balancing is one of the most talked-about concepts in aesthetics right now. It is also one of the most misunderstood.

It is not a treatment. It is an approach to treatment planning that considers the face as a whole rather than responding to individual requests in isolation.

Done well, the result looks like the person, only rested and refreshed. Done poorly, or oversold, it looks like a collection of individual enhancements that do not sit together.

Saying no has definitely cost me more.

Not necessarily the patient walking out with no treatment, but I've given them other options that are better suited for them. Instead of a full face of volume, they might need a subtle tweak in the cheek, under the eye, or in the chin to harmonise their face. And that gets them exactly what they want.

My mum brought home a brochure that changed my life. She had no idea. Neither did I.

I was 18, working at a cafe, struggling with my own acne. That brochure was for a beauty academy and it set everything in motion.

Training as a skin therapist. Working alongside cosmetic nurses every day. Watching patients leave feeling their best and knowing that was exactly what I wanted to do.

Then a Bachelor of Nursing. Clinical experience in Intensive Care and Operating Theatres. Further training in cosmetic medicine. And eventually, Kurated Aesthetics.

I love what I do. And I love helping women feel like the best version of themselves.

Trapezius slimming is everywhere right now. And I genuinely understand the appeal.

But that muscle does real work every day. Lifting. Carrying. Picking up your kids. I’m not willing to reduce that strength for an aesthetic outcome, and I think you deserve to know that before you book anywhere.
