Rollercoaster Theatre formed in 2006, when graduates of the Ignition Theatre training course – the only accredited theatre-making course for people with intellectual disabilities in Australia – discovered limited opportunities for people with disabilities. This ensemble is a vibrant, bold new generation of performers with disabilities who are passionate about theatre making. Mission Statement:

Ro

llercoaster Theatre’s mission is to provide a training ground to develop further the artistic performance talents of graduates of Ignition Theatre Training and other similarly qualified people with disabilities. Rollercoaster Theatre intends to provide continuing education and vocational training in theatre management, production and performance, and to promote the ensemble through public performances on stage, at community festivals and in workshops. Through this public exposure it aims to raise the profile of performers with a disability, and to raise public awareness about the abilities and potential of people with disabilities.

🎉 Celebrating 20 Years of Rollercoaster Theatre! 🎉

What an incredible night we shared at Memo Music Hall on Thursday 28 May as we celebrated Rollercoaster Theatre's 20th Birthday and Fundraiser. From the outstanding performances and entertainment to the generosity and enthusiasm of our supporters, it was a night we won't forget!
For 20 years, Rollercoaster Theatre has been creating opportunities for artists of all abilities to tell stories, build connections and shine on stage. What began as an ambitious idea has grown into a vibrant artistic community, thanks to the passion of our ensemble, families, supporters, volunteers and audiences.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended, donated, performed and helped make the night such a success.

As we celebrate this milestone year, we invite you to help our ensemble continue to make theatre that matters and remain part of this long, unlikely and beautiful success story. With the end of the financial year approaching, now is the perfect time to make a tax-deductible donation and support the next chapter of Rollercoaster Theatre.

💙 Donate today at rollercoastertheatre.com 💙

Every contribution helps us create more opportunities for our performers, develop new work, and continue building an inclusive and creative community where everyone belongs.

Thank you for being part of our journey. Here's to the next 20 years!

It’s Neurodiversity Celebration Week.
A good excuse to celebrate the brilliant, hilarious, wildly talented humans who make up the Rollercoaster Theatre ensemble.
Different brains. Different rhythms. Different ways of seeing the world.
And thank goodness for that.

Our very own has their solo show premiering this Melbourne fringe! Don't miss it! 👀👏

My time is not money. 🕐

It’s all too much.
The rushing, the deadlines, the calendar, the ‘time is money’.

My time echoes and spirals like ripples in water or the rings of a tree as it grows.

Bodymind is a solo show about autistic burnout, time pressures in late-stage capitalism and nature. It is an imagining of other ways of sitting with time. Ways of resisting the clock and the calendar.

Bodymind invites you to slow down for a moment and learn from the snails. Bodymind was developed by emerging theatremaker Max Bower as part of a Theatre Honours Thesis at Deakin University, and draws on their lived experience as a q***r, neurodivergent and perpetually exhausted being.

All showings of Bodymind are relaxed and sensory friendly showings. More details around accessibility and getting to the venue can be found in the access pack below.

Location: 📍
Deakin University Melbourne Burwood Campus, Phoenix Theatre.

221 Burwood Highway Burwood, VIC 3125
