Depending on your FTO gene variation when smelling, seeing, or even talking about food it can trigger food cravings! 🍫

What does this mean? Our FTO gene links back to our appetite, how likely we are to gain weight, and our sense of being full.🥙If this sounds like you then you may have the gene variant that makes you more likely to snack and need to control your appetite.

Our Personalised Wellness Test has some recommendations to help you get on top of this and be more informed about your nutritional needs.

Iron levels depend on several factors including how efficiently Iron is transported through the blood to the target organs, as well as how well Iron can be absorbed in the body. Some foods can influence your body's ability to absorb it. Vitamin C and foods rich in Vitamin C have been shown to enhance Iron absorption as it captures and stores a particular form of Iron (called non-heme) which is more easily absorbed by the body.

Depending on your gene variations, they might reduce your ability to transport Iron where needed and moderately reduce your body's Iron storage levels.

Here's how you could work on maintaining your Iron levels. Try to eat food high in Iron, such as red meat, fish, eggs, legumes, leafy green vegetables, and dried fruit. Also incorporate Vitamin C into your food, as it can increase iron absorption.

We always recommend consulting a healthcare practitioner to assess your current Iron levels.

Did you know that depending on when you consume caffeine, our bodies might metabolise it differently?

Depending on our genes, after we consume coffee, the effects of it might hit us at various times. After consumption, it might take some of us up to 12 hours to clear the effects of caffeine; this is because once it is in our bodies, our CYP1A1 and CYP1A2 genes both produce liver enzymes that help us to break down caffeine.

This can sometimes have an effect on our quality of sleep; if you find that you have trouble falling asleep, it might be because of the time of the day you are drinking your coffee or eating foods with caffeine. So depending on how quickly our bodies metabolise, it could have an effect on our quality of sleep.

Want to learn more about your Caffeine Metabolism? With the Personalised Wellness Test, you can find out if this is a priority for you!

Are you someone who’s prone to exercise injuries? 🤕 Well, it may not be entirely your fault! It could be hidden in your genes!

If you have a higher risk of injury, you might experience muscle stiffness & reduce range in motion, meaning your inherited genes don't provide enough collagen to your tendons and ligaments, making them stiffer and potentially weaker.

𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗷𝘂𝗿𝘆 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝟮 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀, 𝗖𝗢𝗟𝟱𝗔𝟭 & 𝗖𝗢𝗟𝟭𝗔𝟭.
COL5A1: Produces a collagen that influences ligament strength (depending on the amount produced & how it's packed). It also influences the range of movement and flexibility of the joints.

COL1A1: Builds a collagen chain that affects the strength of ligaments' tendons and joint capsules. This strength affects the mobility of joints.

Depending on your variation of these 2 genes will depend on what risk you are of injuries.

Want to understand your injury risk and what you can do it about it? It's just simply good to know. Click the link in our bio to order a Personalised Wellness Kit today!

Vitamin B6 is one of the eight essential B Vitamins and is found naturally, especially in protein-rich foods and many vegetables. The essential B Vitamins work together to fight off germs and bugs and maintain good health and wellbeing.

Vitamin B6 plays an important role in the metabolism of amino acids, which has consequences for multiple functions in the body, such as the production of another important B Vitamin called niacin (B3). It is also essential for the production of the neurotransmitter serotonin, which influences mood, sleep, appetite control and more.

The amount of Vitamin B6 that the body can use may be influenced by a gene called NBPF3. Knowing your NBPF3 gene variation can help you to understand more about your body’s needs. The NBPF3 gene controls the enzyme responsible for breaking down Vitamin B6 in the body. In this way, NBPF3 influences how quickly Vitamin B6 is cleared from the body, which influences how much Vitamin B6 is available at any given time.

Depending on your NBPF3 gene variation, this might be linked to a weaker immune system.

It's important during the cold season you try to eat food high in Vitamin B6 regularly, including meat, fish, starchy vegetables, legumes, non-citrus fruits, liver and soy products.

Here's a tip! Try and eat your vegetables raw where you can or steamed!

Learn more about your variation of the NBPF3 gene by purchasing a Personalised Wellness Kit! Be more informed today by clicking the link in our bio!

Let's deep dive into how genetics works with dietary fats!

The LIPC gene is involved in the way your body processes and breaks down dietary fats in the blood (or lipids) including cholesterol and triglycerides. It can influence the overall balance of fats in your blood, which in turn can affect your overall heart health.

For good heart health, it's important to have the right balance of fats in your blood, or a lipid profile.

Cholesterol can be measured as total cholesterol or as its components of high-density cholesterol (HDL-C) and low-density cholesterol (LDL-C). For a balanced and healthy lipid profile, you need higher levels of HDL-C and lower levels of LDL-C and triglycerides.

Depending on your variation of the LIPC gene, it might be harder to break down fats in your blood efficiently.

With the Personalised Wellness Test you can find out more about your LIPC gene. Discover more now by clicking the link in our bio today!
