We had a brilliant evening recently with Dr Alexandra Sipatchin from Rodenstock, the Rodenstock team and ACBO members at Optometry NSW/ACT.

Dr Sipacthin delivered a thought provoking and very relevant presentation. There was some wonderful dialogue and ACBO members thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

A big thank you to Andrew McKinnon from Optometry NSW/ACT for allowing us to utilise your premises.

The Rodenstock team as always was amazing!

Thank you to all involved!

The Foundations in Binocular Vision first ever Workshop, was held at Harmony Vision Care on Saturday 22nd February 2025, presented by Paul Graham, B.Optom.

We received great feedback from participants, with ACBO members saying that it was a great refresher in Binocular Vision, and general Optometrists that attended saying that they feel confident taking away the skills they learnt and incorporating it into their everyday practice.

The Foundations of Binocular Vision program will help Optometrists in general practice to upskill into more regular binocular vision investigations to diagnose and manage the vision problems they meet in clinical practice.

The FBV program is open to ALL Optometrists. We will open another intake in the second half of 2025, so please stay tuned for further details.

So very true 👍

Your eyes might hold clues about your brain! Research suggests that certain eye conditions could be linked to an increased risk of cognitive decline. Issues like cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration may not just affect your sight—they might also impact your brain health.

The positive side? Addressing vision problems early, such as through regular eye exams or corrective procedures, may help reduce this risk. Keeping your eyes healthy isn’t just about clear vision—it’s about supporting your overall well-being, including your mind.

Take care of your eyes, and head to your local independent optometrist today, as you might be doing your brain a big favour too. 🌟

Welcome to 2025!

We are kicking of a big year here at ACBO – providing you with more learning opportunities, new ways to connect with other members, and Quarterly Focus Topics to enable you to take a deep dive into key topics in vision care.

In the next few months, we will be rolling out a new website, learning platform and member database – all designed to improve your member experience. In March, we will be joined by Dr Alexandra Sipatchin, International Product and Project Manager from Rodenstock for a free member event in Sydney. Also in March, we welcome Dr Paul Harris and Dr Rob Lewis to Melbourne to share their 4-day “New/Old Approach to Strabismus and Amblyopia” workshop, followed by an exclusive Fellows-only conference facilitated by Dr Harris. And in June, we have the annual ACBO Connect Conference, co-located with ODMAFair25 at the ICC in Sydney – giving you access to two “must-attend” events under one roof.

That’s just some of what we have instore for you!

The Board and Team at ACBO are excited to continue to support your professional development throughout 2025.
