Reflecting on an action-packed few days at the Australian Podiatry Association Conference 2025! Sean Quigley, Bri O'Brien and Michaela had a great time making valuable connections in the podiatry space and sharing how HCA is here to support podiatrists.

Over 1000 podiatrists gathered to "Unleash Potential", a powerful theme that resonated throughout every session, discussion, and connection. From innovations in footwear to the growing importance of podiatrists in aged care, we walked away with fresh insights and valuable takeaways.

Highlights included a deeply moving keynote from Tanya Hosch on inclusive healthcare, key conversations around the Aged Care Act 2024, and the latest products at the trade expo.

Today, we raise awareness of elder abuse - often hidden, often close to home. It affects up to 1 in 6 older Australians, yet only a third ever speak up. With rising rates of loneliness, social isolation, and mental health challenges among older adults, this day is more poignant than ever.

Every day, our HCA healthcare workers and staff connect with elderly Australians - whether as patients, clients, or residents. Beyond clinical care and support, they champion dignity and safety and truly listen beneath the surface.

It’s been another incredible year for Team Purple. We want to thank our wonderful team of Allied Health Professionals for all their hard work and passion towards providing quality care to their residents and making HCA Allied Health what it is.

This year, we saw significant growth and expansion in our delivery of Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Podiatry, Speech Pathology, Dietetics and Telehealth Psychology services in Aged Care homes across the country.

Healthcare Australia are proud to deliver Virtual Mental Health Psychology Services to those living in Residential Aged Care Homes within the Western NSW region. This program, fully funded by the Western NSW Primary Health Network, is designed to address the gap in mental health support for RACH residents, particularly in regional and remote areas.

Acknowledging the key role RACH team members play in the mental wellness of their residents, Healthcare Australia have developed a series of comprehensive, freely accessible online educational modules for eligible RACH staff and homes.

Under the expert guidance of our Lead Psychologist, Sam Mary Moscovitz, we designed 7 modules addressing key topics:
1. Transitioning into Residential Aged Care
2. Depression and Anxiety in Residential Aged Care
3. Promoting Mental Wellness in Residential Aged Care
4. End of Life Care in Residential Aged Care
5. Behavioural Management
6. Introduction to Trauma Informed Care in Older Persons
7. Communication Strategies to Address Stigma in RACH Residents

We are immensely proud of this initiative and confident that it will significantly bolster the capability of RACH staff to support the mental health needs of their residents. This project marks a significant advancement towards achieving our overarching aim of providing inclusive mental health services for all. 💜

Happy World Physiotherapy Day to our dedicated Physiotherapists across Aged Care, hospitals, community and all other settings! 💜

This year's theme focuses on the crucial role physiotherapy plays in managing and preventing low back pain (LBP), empowering individuals of all ages to lead active and fulfilling lives without discomfort.

We are very proud of the work that our Physios do to help clients with LBP such as:
- Offering expert advice, treatment, and preventive measures for LBP management
- Rehabilitation programs to support recovery, activity resumption, and independence
- Non-surgical interventions such as educational programs, supervised exercises, and manual therapy
- Tailor made activity and exercise programs for a holistic approach to LBP treatment
