With special interests in women’s and children’s health, men’s health, mental health, and chronic disease management, she brings a wealth of experience and a caring approach to every consultation.

👏👨‍⚕️ Meet Dr Desire Tshibumbu - Joining the team at Southern Star Medical !

Since arriving in Australia in 2019, Dr Tshibumbu has supported communities across WA, including Quairading, Harvey, Waroona, and Dalyellup.

Originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, he brings over 30 years of medical experience and holds a Master's in Family Medicine and Public Health. He has also worked extensively in Zambia and Namibia.

Dr Tshibumbu offers comprehensive general practice care, with special expertise in complex medical presentations, chronic disease management, mental health interventions, and children's respiratory conditions like asthma, croup, bronchiolitis, and pneumonia. He also performs minor skin procedures and skin checks.

Dr. Akhtar is a compassionate and experienced GP who brings a warm, approachable presence and a strong focus on personalised, high-quality care.
She completed her medical degree at Western Sydney University and GP training in Western Australia, and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Dr. Akhtar has also gained valuable experience working across major hospitals in Sydney and Perth.

Her clinical interests include women’s health, paediatrics, chronic disease management, lifestyle and preventative medicine, sexual health, and breastfeeding support. She also holds a Diploma in Child Health and further qualifications in women’s health.

Dr. Akhtar is all about building strong, trusting relationships and supporting people through every stage of life. We’re so excited to have her on board and can’t wait for you to meet her! 🌟

📢 Exciting News! Osteoporosis screening at Southern Star Medical! 🦴

We’re pleased to announce that we will be offering DEXA scans for osteoporosis on-site at our clinic, in partnership with Osteoporosis Solutions, from March 31st to April 4th, 2025

✅ What is a DEXA scan?
A DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) scan is the gold standard for measuring bone density and assessing the risk of osteoporosis. If you are at risk of osteoporosis or have been advised to get a bone density scan, this is a great opportunity for early detection, proactive care or ongoing management

✅ Who can book?
This service is open to everyone—you do not need to be an existing patient at our clinic

✅ What do you need?
