Flu vaccine… without the needle?

A new option — the FluMist nasal spray vaccine — is now available, offering a needle-free way to protect against the flu.

It’s designed to make vaccination more accessible, especially for those who feel anxious about injections.

Like all vaccines, it may not be suitable for everyone — which is why it’s important to have a conversation about what’s right for you or your child.

If you’re curious about your options this flu season, we’re here to help ✨

With flu season approaching, timing your vaccination can make a difference.

After your flu shot, it usually takes around 10–14 days for your body to build up protection. That’s why getting vaccinated before cases start to rise can help keep you covered when flu season peaks.

In Australia, flu activity typically increases during the cooler months — so planning ahead now is a simple way to reduce your risk.

A small step now can help you stay well in the months ahead!

Did you know? Around 4.1 million Australians are under-vaccinated and most of them are adults, not children.

Being under-vaccinated can leave you and those around you at risk of preventable diseases. The good news? It’s never too late to catch up.

You might have missed vaccines for a range of reasons — and it’s more common than you think:
✔️ New vaccines have been added over time
✔️ You grew up in a different country with a different schedule
✔️ Doses may have been missed without you realising
✔️ Certain health conditions mean you may need extra protection

Regardless of the reason, checking your vaccination status is a simple step that can make a big difference to your health.

Have a chat with your GP or immunisation nurse to make sure you’re up to date!

Falls are more common as we age but they’re preventable!

Many falls can be prevented, and small steps can make a big difference in maintaining independence and confidence.

If you’ve had more than one fall in the past 6 months, your risk of falling again increases but there are ways to reduce this risk:

✔️ Stay active and keep moving
✔️ Stand up slowly and take care when bending
✔️ Keep up with regular check-ups with your GP
✔️ Stay informed about your health conditions
✔️ Look after your feet — pay attention to pain, swelling or changes
✔️ Seek support from your doctor, physio or podiatrist

If you have osteoporosis, your doctor can guide you on treatment options, including supplements, exercise and lifestyle changes to help reduce injury risk.

Your health, safety and independence matter and we’re here to support you every step of the way!

Some health conditions don’t come with clear warning signs.

Things like high blood pressure or cholesterol can develop quietly over time.

That’s why regular check-ups matter — not because something feels wrong, but to make sure everything is on the right track.

A general check-up is less about something being “wrong” and more about staying on track.

It can include things like:
• Blood pressure checks
• Blood tests
• Reviewing your overall health
• Talking through anything that’s been on your mind

It’s about prevention, reassurance, and support — all in one appointment.

As the seasons shift, it’s a gentle reminder that we don’t have to run at full speed all the time.

Small habits can make a big difference — getting enough rest, staying hydrated, checking in with how you’re feeling.

Looking after your health doesn’t have to be all or nothing.
It can start with something simple.
