In the world of cosmetic chemistry and advanced skincare formulations there are varying forms of each Vitamin. Savvy formulators intentionally choose them to give you a buffet of options based entirely on your skin needs in each stage. We do this because our skincare works: it’s not a Band-Aid for your concerns; it’s a corrective solution and with this comes the need to intuitively listen to your skin’s needs.

Every skin needs Vitamins A, B and C so there isn’t one form of each that is ‘better’ than another, they’re all simply used for different levels of skin health within formulations that complement their mechanism of action.

All forms are antioxidants, collagen stimulators and pigment blockers but which form of Vitamin C is your skin telling you it needs right now?

L-Ascorbic Acid:
• Purest form of Vitamin C, can be very unstable in formulations hence our powder form (only activated when mixed with a serum)
• Water-soluble and chirally correct meaning it absorbs through water and is as pure and potent as possible
• Not suitable for dry, sensitive, inflamed and delicate skins
• Most suitable for thicker, more texturised and pigmented skins that suffer with sun damage and uneven skin tone

Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate:
• Highly stable ester of Ascorbic Acid
• Oil soluble meaning it can pe*****te through the skin’s lipid layers for deep intracellular absorption
• Most suitable for dry, sensitive, inflamed, delicate and acne-prone skins

Whether it’s Pure C + BHA Powder or Vitamin C H**p Seed Oil, so long as you’ve got some Vitamin C in your skincare regime daily then we’re happy. Choose the right form for you and your skin will be too!

Deeper Than Beauty

The Sanctuary: Beauty and Wellness Centre opened its doors in Southern River Shopping Centre in May 2008. Starting off with a small cohort of staff offering varied beauty therapy services, it has evolved over the years to specialise in clinical skincare, skin correctives and age management under the careful hand of Lucie Missak. Lucie began her beauty therapy journey decades ago, but attained her ITEC Beauty Specialist Diploma in 2003, which led quickly to her teaching the same specialisation to others at the Perth College of Beauty Therapy. In 2005, she opened the first beauty academy in the Seychelles. In 2008, she returned to Perth and opened the Sanctuary: Beauty and Wellness Centre, which has gone on to become one of the best-loved small businesses in the area.

The Sanctuary: Beauty and Wellness Centre has hosted assorted specialists over the years, but our longest and strongest professional collaboration is with Dr Marko Lambassa, a cosmetic physician who provides injectables on site at the clinic on a by-appointment basis.

Our centre is one of the approved Australian depigmentation clinics for Mesoesthetics, an approved Plasmedic Fibroblast Therapy service provider, and a proud distributor of DMK and Dermalogica products. In recent years, Lucie has retrained in cosmetic tattooing, and now provides 3D embroidery eyebrows and other permanent micropigmentation as part of the Sanctuary: Beauty and Wellness Centre’s age management services. We look forward to delivering you a holistic beauty and wellness experience through high quality product, innovative technique, and excellent service for many years to come!
