How can you make an appointment? If you would like to arrange an appointment, you will need a referral from your GP or specialist. Your referral can be sent to us via fax on (07) 5531 3122 or via email to info@maguireupperlimb.com.au.

Once we have received your referral, Dr Maguire will look over it and determine if you need any further nerve conduction studies or scans to be performed prior to your appointment. If you have already had nerve conduction studies performed in the past but they are over 2 months old, these may need to be repeated.

One of our friendly receptionists will then give you a call to discuss your referral and will help arrange any tests that are required such as x-rays.

The symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome are caused by compression of the median nerve at the wrist, either directly by the transverse carpal ligament or indirectly by increased pressure within the carpal tunnel caused by swelling of the contents of the carpal tunnel.

Symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome can vary but usually consist of numbness and tingling in the thumb, index finger, middle finger and one side of the ring finger. This pattern of numbness in the hand can vary but usually the little finger is not involved, unless the ulnar nerve is also affected.
