If your GP has suggested a Home Medicines Review (HMR), also called a Domiciliary Medication Management Review, it is not simply paperwork. It is a service designed to make your medicines safer, simpler, and more effective in everyday life.

An HMR is a structured review of everything you take, carried out by an accredited pharmacist in collaboration with your GP. The purpose is to identify interactions, duplications, or medicines that are no longer needed, while making sure you clearly understand what you are taking and why.

Your GP decides whether you are likely to benefit, based on your current situation. You may qualify if you are on five or more medicines, if you use high-risk drugs, if you have had a recent hospital stay, or if your health and life circumstances have changed.

Most prescriptions for medicinal cannabis are for chronic pain, anxiety, cancer-related symptoms, mental health, epilepsy and other neurological disorders. There are more than 100 different products now available to the public, from oral preparations such as oils and capsules containing CBD (cannabidiol) to THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) and dried-flower products.
