“Having a team that shows up – and keeps showing up – has changed everything.”

For Robert, support hasn’t been about one moment or one interaction.
It’s been built over time – through consistency, reliability, and people who follow through.

The kind of support where you don’t have to second guess.
Where you know someone will be there.
Where trust is earned, not assumed.

Because when support is consistent, it becomes something more.

It becomes confidence.
It becomes independence.
It changes everything.

Peter hadn’t been back in the water in a long time.

Growing up, the beach and surfing were a big part of his life – something he lost after his accident.

Over the weekend, with the support of his team and support worker Aniza, he got back into the ocean on the Gold Coast.

A moment like this doesn’t just happen. It takes planning, coordination, and people who genuinely care.

This is what the right support looks like – creating opportunities for people to reconnect with the things they love. Great work Peter, Aniza and to our team!

Recently we received some lovely feedback about our After Hours team, recognising the care and reassurance they provide when participants and families need support most.

One participant shared:

“I would like to give a shout out to the After Hours Team for being helpful, courteous and caring enough to call back to see if I was ok after a late night call for assistance.”
– Karen Muller

Feedback like this highlights just how important this service is.

That’s why Unidex Healthcare has recently extended our After Hours operating hours over the weekend, ensuring participants and families can access support when they need it most.

A special thank you to Sky Zaloumis, Elizabeth Baker and Tracy Knight for the care and professionalism you bring to this service.

After a serious accident left him with a spinal cord injury, Robert had to rebuild almost every part of his daily life.

This video offers a small window into Robert’s life after the accident. He speaks openly about that journey – and about the role the right support has played in helping him regain independence, confidence and routine.

Stories like Robert’s show what can happen when support is consistent, values-aligned and built around the person.

We’re grateful to Robert for trusting us to share his story.

Today we celebrate the incredible women across Unidex Healthcare.

Women make up almost 80% of our support workers, delivering skilled, person-centred support across homes, communities and complex care environments every day. Their professionalism, compassion and consistency are at the heart of the support we provide.

We also recognise the women across our coordination, clinical and operational teams who work behind the scenes to enable safe, responsive and high-quality outcomes.

Together, the women of Unidex Healthcare shape our culture and strengthen the experience of those we support.

Happy International Women’s Day. 🌿

🌟March Care Worker of the Month – Bavani 🌟

This month we’re celebrating Bavani Thanapalasingham for the incredible care and dedication she brings to her role every day.

Bavani recently stepped forward to help cover an important shift — even adjusting her own day off to make sure support continued when it mattered most. Her initiative, compassion and professionalism are exactly what great support looks like.

Thank you, Bavani, for the difference you make and for the heart you bring to your work. We’re lucky to have you on the Unidex team 💙

Yesterday we brought our Unidex Healthcare team together for Staff Day – a day of reflection, learning, insight and collaborative thinking.

We were lucky to hear from Dane Cross, Chief Operating Officer of Sporting Wheelies, who shared his lived experience as a lens for understanding what quality truly feels like from a participant perspective.

His message was simple but powerful:

Good support isn’t about management – it’s about enablement.

It’s about trust.
Consistency.
Responsiveness.
And making sure people feel heard and in control in their own homes.

From a participant perspective, quality is measured by whether the system makes life easier – not heavier.

We’ll keep refining, listening and strengthening our services to ensure they remain participant-led.

Thank you, Dane, for grounding our team in what really matters.

A small question. A big impact. 💙

Over the weekend, our After Hours team connected with one of our participants and her mum during a challenging moment.

During the call, Tracey from our After Hours team, paused and asked:
“Do you have someone at home to support you?”

It may seem like a simple question – but the family later shared that no previous provider had ever asked that before. And it genuinely meant a lot.

Care isn’t just about delivering services.
It’s about thinking one step further and recognising the person on the other end of the phone.

We’re so proud of the empathy and professionalism our After Hours team bring to every conversation.

There’s something powerful about achieving a goal you’ve set for yourself 💙

Lianne lives with an Acquired Brain Injury following a stroke, and she’s determined to live as independently and fully as possible.

One of her goals was to experience horseback riding – and recently, she did just that.

With careful planning, the right safety supports in place, and her team right there with her (quite literally!), Lianne was able to enjoy the experience with confidence.

Moments like these aren’t just activities – they build motivation, independence and self-belief.

At Unidex Healthcare, person-centred care means supporting participants in the goals they choose.

A quick appointment. A scenic walk. A first visit to Kangaroo Point 💙

After a short appointment at the hospital, Malo and his support team had some time to spare, so they took a walk over to Kangaroo Point. It was Malo’s first time there, and he absolutely loved it.

Moments like these are a reminder that care doesn’t stop at appointments - it’s also about getting out, exploring, and enjoying life's 'firsts' together.
