It is with much sadness and heartbreak to share that our very much loved, old boy, Swifty earnt his celestial wings yesterday πŸͺ½πŸ¦„πŸͺ½πŸ’”
I was so lucky to call him mine for 15 years and it was always me and him... until 2020 when Heard by the Herd required a few more equines to live up to its title πŸ¦„πŸ’šπŸ΄πŸ’šπŸ΄
Swifty was a presence , holding space, watching and directing his herd and showing us all his wisdom as a senior herd member. πŸ¦„πŸ€
He's supported me through some major events in my life and I'll always be so grateful for his spirit, support and carrying me for thousands of kms through beautiful places in nature. πŸžοΈπŸ’šπŸŒ³
Blaze and Bucky miss him so much already and call out for him but he can no longer reply 😭πŸͺ½πŸ¦„πŸͺ½.
You will always be with me in my heart my beautiful Swifty boy 🀍πŸͺ½πŸ¦„πŸͺ½

This morning we had lots of colourful fun learning about FEELINGS in the 4 main domains of Happy, Sad, Anger and Fear πŸ΄πŸ’šπŸ¦„
The cup at each domain represented the client's BODY.
The bicarb of soda in the cup represented SENSATIONS in the body.
The vinegar that was gradually added represented TRIGGERS that can add up gradually and then πŸŒ‹πŸ€―
The different food colouring made it very colourful! 🌈
Then we noticed that ALL Feelings can bubble over but that's ok because we know different ways that express those safely , let the emotion tell us what we need or need to do, do the ' thing'
,then let it go and no longer feel stuck. πŸ¦„πŸ’šπŸ΄
Horses model this perfectly to us by expressing a feeling and then ' go back to grazing '. HORSE WISDOM πŸ΄πŸ’šπŸ¦„

It's always handy to know the name of some basic parts of the horses body πŸ¦„πŸ’šπŸ΄

So this morning Bucky was our model for labelling and learning some new words and where they belong on the horses body πŸ΄πŸ’šπŸ¦„

🌿 The Effort Paradox 🌿

✨ β€œThe more effortless it looks… the more effort it’s taken.” ✨

Ever had someone say,

β€œYou make it look so easy.”
β€œYou're just out there with ponies, right?”
β€œYou're so calm β€” I couldn’t do what you do.”

Let us tell you the truth:

πŸ’₯ What looks calm on the surface is built on hours of safety planning.
πŸ’₯ What looks simple is the result of years of inner work.
πŸ’₯ What looks natural is actually deep trauma-informed intention and years of learning.

As facilitators β€” especially those of us working solo or in small teams β€”
we carry a lot behind the scenes:
πŸ“ Safeguarding, preparation, emotional regulation, adapting on the fly, chasing invoices, writing notes, designing sessions, learning new things constantly.

And still, we show up gently. We hold space.
We make people feel safe enough to open up in a muddy field with a pony by their side.

That’s not magic.
That’s mastery born of effort.

So if you’re a facilitator and you’re tired β€” it’s not because you’re weak.
It’s because you’re carrying more than most people will ever see.

πŸ’› Keep showing up.
πŸ’› Keep resting when you need to.
πŸ’› Keep trusting that what looks "simple" from the outside… is actually sacred work.
