🤯It’s the equivalent of using any kind of barrier cream and will quickly keep moisture inside the skin… but it won’t do much more good for your skin than that. It’s like slathering Vaseline on your skin to be honest, and no shade to Vaseline, I bloody love that petrochemical (really!). Beef tallow isn’t really moisturising - the suppleness that people experience using it is their skin’s own moisture being locked under a layer of tallow.
🧴But using a barrier cream on the face daily WILL result in skin cells not shedding normally and lead to inflammation and clogged pores - even if you’re not normally susceptible to acne. It’s really common for people to develop closed pimples that don’t form heads after using beef tallow.
⏰It might take 3 weeks, it might take 8 months, but it WILL HAPPEN. Every single ex beef tallow patient I’ve had has had the exact same trajectory - it just varies in how long it takes to happen because everyone’s skin is different and beef tallow is usually only one part of a skincare routine - sometimes the rest of the skincare is making up for the mess that the beef tallow is making.
🍊ALSO! It has a scent, so companies often mix citrus oils in to mask the smell, and citrus oils are THE WORST THING EVER FOR SKIN - you’ll end up allergic to it, even if you’re not at first; it will sensitize you’re skin until you’re allergic to it. And those oils are terrible for those with melasma. And people with any other form of hyperpigmentation, both PIE and PIH.
I believe people when they first use beef tallow and they say their skin is improved and more supple, it’s not that people are lying. But ongoing it’s kind of a useless and destructive product as it will cause a multitude of problems.
📋The summary of beef tallow is that the marketing is great but the product is mid at best.
