We are β€œHEALTHCARE THAT CARES”

17/07/2020

🌟Thanks to Sir Mark Elrick and the whole Team at our local Football Club SUFC⚽️ (whom OFP is also a major and founding sponsor) for your generous hearts ❀️and donation πŸ˜‡ of hundreds of soccer Jerseys, socks, shorts, playing kits today to iCare4U. They will go to the youth and children of Gereka village and Port Moresby for clothing and some team sport events where our home grown charity is based and making a real difference in the lives of young women and children affected by HIV and Domestic Violence.

Our iCare4u charity home / facility is set to become PNG's first ever medium to long stay Respite and Rehabilitation centre for women and children affected by HIV and DV. Launched in 2015 by friends George & Crystal Nita and Adam & Emma Atherton we wanted to help the vulnerable and those suffering physically, financially and emotionally and those who have abused or abandoned. We visit and give new r**e victims and those with new HIV diagnoses our icare packages in POM General Hospital and help them with positive steps and life options. In 2021 iCare4u hopes to house more women and children on its current site/ facility as they build more dwellings and care homes. Quite a few children have also been safely adopted through our care after being abandoned.

β€œPSA: in light of the cooler months down under, know that there are so many benefits to doing exercise for knee osteoarthritis.
It is a myth that it is unsafe and that it’ll make your bone on bone worse.
It is the most recommended intervention for knee osteoarthritis and also promotes other whole body benefits.
A good therapist will give you exercises that you are able to do and complete by yourself.

β€œ[BE MORE THAN YOUR CLINICAL SKILLS]

This is an absolute gem from an ex-professor of mine: Dave Walton ( ). The above graph is a compilation of over 400 texts responding to the question:

β€œThink about a physiotherapist who you consider to be particularly 'good', this may be yourself or someone you look up to as a model or mentor. Or if you can't think of a single person, think about the qualities that you think of when you think of a good physio.”

Notice what people value the most. You don’t see much of this stuff on social media however because it won’t get you a big following. But if you’re a student or a new grad you need to wake up. Prioritize your education accordingly.

CONNECTION. COMMUNICATION. EMPATHY.

Don’t sit still. Make moves!
