Highlights from Cambodia - the first step towards conducting a Community Assessment whilst visiting schools in Rural Cambodia (Pailin and Kratié ) that Arches Audiology has been donating to since it was established . It has been wonderful to get to know my motherland, and see the impacts of globalisation and modernisation has on the country. Also, how the diaspora remains connected to this beautiful country Cambodia 🇰🇭

If only setting up really was as quick as this!

As audiologists, we look forward to discovering the softest level that you can hear at certain pure tones and intermediate frequencies….and more!

As you may know, from a patient’s perspective, doing the audiology test can be exhausting because hearing at threshold is exhausting.

When we communicate we like the speech signal to be nice and clear not at threshold (the point at which we may or may not hear), we simply do not like listening to voices are at thresholds (and will 100% tune out because that level of cognitive effort is too heavy) so let’s work out what level of speech is optimal for you!

💡Did you know the ideal level of speech in a quiet room for you is going to be so very different for you when you are in the presence of noise - whether it be pleasant ambient noise or background music or environmental noise like road traffic, grocery shop noise or hospital activity noise.

Visit your local audiology clinic for a complete assessment of your auditory abilities because we care about building sound connections.

Looking forward to making a difference to the Cambodian children’s world

Locally, Rotary Club of Springvale City are proud to be collaborating with Rotary Club of Noble-Park and Dingley to donate books to local schools in the South-East. We heard from the assistant principal of Keysborough College - Banksia Campus what these books mean to the students.

Thank you to Hearing Practitioner News for the feature!

Since the article was published we have received two diagnostic audiometers that were generously donated by friends of Arches Audiology, so thank you!!

To operate the audiometers, we require laptops that run on Windows 8….. if anyone has these lying around please consider donating to our program! 💻

We will happily accept newer laptops or accessories too for student use 🙏

Monday 3 March is World Hearing Day – the #1 day to raise awareness of healthy ear and hearing care practices each year.

We reached out to audiologists around the country to ask them why the day is so important, tips to maintain healthy hearing and what they’re doing to empower clients to ensure healthy ears and hearing for themselves and others.
