Ambulance Victoria along with our mates over in the Paramedicine discipline wanted us to invite you all along to the following events. If you're unable to make it to either of these zoom sessions but you'd still love to be involved, you can go ahead anytime and download the GoodSAM Responder app. You might just help to save a life. From Ambulance Victoria:
Every day around 18 Victorians will have a cardiac arrest, with only 1 in 10 surviving. We know that bystander intervention has the greatest impact on improving that survival rate. Performing CPR and using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) lifts their chances of survival by 68 percent. Thousands of Victorians are still with us because a brave bystander stepped in.
Ambulance Victoria’s recent research has revealed a 50% decline in cardiac arrest survival rates during the first wave of COVID-19 in Victoria. We need your help.
So Ambulance Victoria, with support from Victoria University, has launched ‘Shocktober’; a month long campaign to increase AED awareness. GoodSAM (Smartphone Activated Medic) is an app that connects responders to patients in those critical first minutes of cardiac arrest while paramedics are on the way. If you are an adult (18 or older) that is familiar with CPR and the use of an AED, first-aid trained, or a registered health professional then you might just be the hero we need. As part of the Shocktober campaign, this week Victoria University with Ambulance Victoria will be hosting two GoodSAM information sessions:
Tuesday 27 October 11am-11.30am via Zoom

We here at CHABS look forward to seeing you there
Shocktober is a month-long campaign to highlight the importance of knowing where Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are located and to ensure that all AEDs are made publicly accessible and registered through Ambulance Victoria.
