National Palliative Care Week 11th-17th May

When we think of palliative care, we often think of our loved ones, friends, and neighbours who are acutely unwell and approaching the end of life.

However, palliative care also supports thousands of people living with life-limiting illnesses where the timeframe may be uncertain or prolonged. Palliative care teams work closely with patients, families, and doctors to help manage symptoms, improve quality of life, and provide support throughout what can sometimes be a long and challenging journey.

Never Miss a Beat - Heart Week 4th May to 10th May

Heart Week 2026 in Australia runs from May 4–10, focusing on the theme "Never miss a BEAT" to urge Australians, especially those 45 and over to book a Medicare-subsidised Heart Health Check with their GP.

Led by the Heart Foundation, this campaign aims to improve cardiovascular health, promote healthy lifestyle changes, and prevent heart disease, which remains a leading cause of death.

St Georges Basin Medical Centre will be running our first Influenza Vaccination Clinic of 2026 on Wednesday 22nd April.
If you know you are eligible for a government funded influenza vaccine please call our reception team to book in for your free government vaccination.
If you are unsure, it is best to speak to your doctor first.

Eligibility:
All patients over 65 years can get a funded vaccination.
All children 6 months to 5 years.
ATSI over 6 months old.
Children and adults over 5yo with certain at risk conditions.
Pregnant patients.
