November 17 is World Prematurity Day, a globally celebrated day to increase awareness of preterm birth, and remember and acknowledge the deaths and disabilities that have occurred due to prematurity. Worldwide 1 in 10 babies are born prematurely.

This is baby Norah, born at 28+5 weeks. Norah's parents, Hannah and Ben are so grateful for the care and support they have received from so many incredible staff from pregnancy care, Norah's birth and time in the Neonatal Intensive Care and Special Care Nursery.

North Obstetrics is committed to the prevention of premature birth where possible, and improved health outcomes for babies born early.

North Midwifery offers personalised care to women and families including pregnancy preparation and postnatal support in our North Shore rooms or visits in the comfort of your home. Our midwives and lactation consultants (IBCLCs) have many years of experience in supporting families through this season of life and offer practical support through every stage. This may also be the perfect opportunity to give these pregnancy preparation or postnatal support services to someone you know that is pregnant or has recently given birth.
