On Day 4 of Jean Hailes Women's Health Week, we recognise the theme of ‘Pain to power.'

Renee, a young mum from Adelaide, woke up one morning with a painful rash that would spread across her back, hips and feet. “It got to a point where I had to walk with a stick, and I couldn’t play with my son.”

She was later diagnosed with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis by a dermatologist. Renee says that the dermatologist “understood my condition and prescribed me a medication that has changed my life.”

Our Help helps portal features stories of women like Renee who have experienced the life-changing impact of dermatology care and treatment.

Today is Day 2 of Jean Hailes with the theme of 'Take the Lead'.

Taking charge of your health is important that's why we encourage you to take the lead when visiting your dermatologist by equipping yourself with the right tools and information to get the most out of your appointment. This is your appointment and your time. You always have a right to ask questions about your skin, your health, and your treatment options. Asking questions will help you get the best possible care.

It's the start of Jean Hailes ! Today's theme ‘Every check matters' reminds all women to prioritise their health checks, including skin checks.

Australia has one of the highest skin cancer rates in the world. That’s why we encourage you to check all areas of your skin regularly. Be alert to any new or changing moles and spots and if you notice anything new or different, see your general practitioner (GP) or dermatologist promptly.
