💙 Thank You Thursday💙

Today we want to shine a light on someone who’s really making waves for a cause that matters.

This Saturday, April 11, Steve Rodgers will swim 4km from Manly to Watsons Bay, straight across the Sydney Harbour Heads. It’s a tough stretch of water but he’s taking it on to raise funds for the Manly Adolescent & Young Adult Hospice (AYAH).

Steve has already raised an incredible $10,000 to support young people and their families when they need it most.

What started as abdominal pain quickly became a medical emergency for Andrew.

After being rushed to North Shore Hospital, Andrew was diagnosed with diverticulitis, a serious condition that can develop when small pouches in the bowel become inflamed or infected.

This International Women’s Day, we celebrate four extraordinary women who are shaping medical research and healthcare - advancing discovery, strengthening systems, improving patient care, and leading with compassion and courage.

Associate Professor Mimi Berman is advancing genomic medicine and rare disease care, driving innovation that is shaping the future of precision medicine.

Rachel Wolfe is leading district-wide responses to violence, abuse and neglect, designing trauma-informed systems that ensure women, children and families receive safe, inclusive and integrated care.

Dr Benita Tse is researching colorectal cancer prevention and treatment response, working toward earlier detection and more personalised therapies - while navigating the realities of balancing research and motherhood.

Shiraz Abdulla, Director of Nursing and Midwifery at Hornsby Hospital, is championing workforce sustainability and ensuring nursing voices are represented at the highest levels of hospital leadership.

When women are equally represented, supported and recognised, healthcare is stronger for everyone. 💜

This week we were proud to celebrate the opening of the new Outdoor Therapy Garden at Ryde Hospital (Graythwaite Rehabilitation Centre) - made possible by our compassionate donors. The NORTH Foundation provided $60,000 including $10,000 for the therapy smart car ‘Skittle’.

The garden supports rehabilitation in meaningful ways including wheelchair-height planters, gravel paths to practice balance and 'Skittle' helping patients safely rebuild confidence getting in and out of a vehicle.

Thank you is for having us there to celebrate the opening with your staff and members of the community who helped make the garden possible.
