Is your job becoming a real pain in the elbow?

Sitting at a desk all day may be convenient, but it often comes with unintended consequences - and elbow pain is one of them.

Many of us focus so much on neck and back posture while working that we overlook the strain we place on other parts of the body, like our elbows, arms, and wrists.

Some insights by Lifecare Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist Jessica explains how desk ergonomics and repetitive movements can contribute to elbow pain. It's a common yet under-discussed workplace health concern.

So, what can cause it?

• Poor ergonomics, such as improper chair height or lack of armrest support, can lead to overuse injuries.

• Repetitive tasks like typing, using a mouse, or even holding a phone for long periods can stress the tendons in your arm.

Ignoring elbow pain could lead to conditions like "tennis elbow," even if you’ve never picked up a racket!

The good news? Small, intentional adjustments to your workspace and routine could make all the difference.

It’s Tradies’ Health Month!

Did you know that over 90% of tradies experienced work-related injuries or pain in the past year, with 90% of these injuries caused or worsened by work? (APA, 2025)

That’s a huge number.

And with Australia facing a trade shortage and a housing crisis, the health and wellbeing of our tradies is more critical than ever.

That’s where physiotherapy comes in.

Nearly two-thirds of tradies who have seen a physiotherapist reported significant pain reduction or eradication.

We all know that physios can diagnose and treat work-related injuries.

But did you know they can also:

• Teach you techniques to work safely and prevent injuries
• Help you maintain productivity and participation
• Help you address pain early

Let one of our skilled physiotherapists help you get back to your best.

So, your favourite player hurt their hamstring... now what?

As evidenced in our discussion of the unprecedented injury count in the Sir Doug Nicholls clash between Port Adelaide (Yartapuulti) and Geelong, hamstring injuries are one of the most common sports injuries in high-speed sports like AFL.

But not all hamstring injuries are the same.

They’re typically graded into three categories:
👉 Grade 1 - Mild strain. Minor pain, some stiffness, and you can usually walk.
👉 Grade 2 – Partial tear. Moderate pain, swelling, and difficulty with daily activities.
👉 Grade 3 – Complete tear. Severe pain, bruising, and often unable to bear weight.

Recovery time can range from 3 weeks to 3+ months, depending on the severity.

Jason Horne-Francis seemed likely to be looking at least a Grade 2, having to be helped off the field following the injury.

However, positive news emerged for Port Adelaide fans, with Jason reporting to the media soon after the match that his return-to-play timeline was just 3 weeks post injury.

But what if you’re the one that’s injured?

See your physio early!

A proper diagnosis and personalised rehab plan with Lifecare can get you back to what you love faster and safer.
