I wish I could put into words the heartbreak I felt when Miss Bella first came to me. Her mum reached out, desperate to find someone who could understand. Bella was fragile, broken—battling a severe eating disorder that had hospitalized her multiple times. When I was young, I, too, faced anorexia, so I understood her pain in a way that words couldn’t fully capture.

Sometimes, what we need most is just to be heard. To have a safe place where we can cry, yell, and not feel alone. That’s what I wanted to be for Bella. We started small—focusing on foods that felt safe, building trust with her body again, and slowly, step by step, moving forward. There were moments of progress, and there were setbacks too, but through it all, she kept going. We trained on the good days and talked through the hard ones.

And today, this is Bella—a hot minute down the track, thriving, strong, and full of life. Seeing her now brings tears to my eyes because I know how far she’s come. I never did this to be an inspiration—I did it to give her a place to feel safe, to remind her she wasn’t alone.

If you’re struggling, know this: you don’t have to do it alone. Learning how to fuel your body again can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Healing starts with small, manageable steps—finding foods that feel safe, balancing nutrients in a way that supports your body, and nourishing yourself without fear. I recently had a client come to me after seeing a dietitian, frustrated and lost. She was handed a list of “approved” foods but no real plan—no guidance on how to structure meals, how to stay consistent, or how to actually achieve her goals.
