What's the difference? I get asked this all the time about my private sessions.
I offer 1:1 private yoga sessions, yoga therapy sessions as well as couples & 1:1 restorative yoga!
Ultimately these are all personalised, tailored 60 or 90 minute sessions, the main difference between them is your goal! So let's break it down:
🪷A 1:1 private or "general" private is a wonderful way for you to learn more about the practice of yoga & create a practice for yourself based on your focus, interests or goals. Depending on your goals/interests we will often focus on Asana (the shapes or 'poses'), breathing techniques (pranayama) & mindfulness/meditation. Wanting to try yoga, do some yoga deep-dive learning or build a personal flow? A 1:1 general private is for you.
🪷Yoga Therapy is the therapeutic application of the tools of yoga to heal from or manage anything ranging from minor injury to chronic conditions, as well as creating new meaningful habits for wellbeing. Unlike general privates we look at your lifestyle, habits, diet & history & engage in more diverse practices and often work together over a specified period not just one session. Need accountability, ongoing support & a holistic, lifestyle focused practices & plan? Yoga Therapy is for you.
🪷Restorative yoga is a 90 minute session using restorative yoga shapes with lots of props to actively enenage your parasympathetic nervous system- this is a relax & reset kind of experience that is perfect for burnout, fatigue and pregnancy support! Think of this like coming in for a massage- that floaty relaxed feeling when you leave the spa? That's what you get from a restorative. If you're rest deprived and need a boost restorative is for you.
