Eczema Support Australia is hosting an online event with ACD Fellow Dr Gayle Ross on Wednesday 27 July.

Dr Ross is the lead clinician at the atopic dermatitis clinic at Royal Melbourne Hospital and will share information on new and emerging treatments to help Australians living with eczema.

A special issue on skin cancer prevention is out today, published in the journal Public Health Research & Practice. The edition highlights the ongoing public health challenge of turning around Australia’s reputation as the skin cancer capital of the world. More than two in three Australians will have a skin cancer excision in their lifetime, according to research in this issue, and papers highlight key areas for action. These include increasing shade in the built environment, greater investment in evidence-based behaviour change campaigns and new approaches to early detection.

We are looking for a Nurse to join us at Stafford. Dermatology Nursing is a varied and interesting hands on role. Training in Specialist Dermatology treatments will be provided. This position would suit an applicant looking for a long term position.

We have a permanent position available 4-5 days per week (negotiable) . Previous Dermatology or General Practice nursing experience is highly regarded. Immediate start.

A big step for patients with Hidradenitis suppurativa ie an Australian based support group.

Pleased to share the news of our Fellows, Dr Sarsha Montimore and A/Prof Erin McMeniman pictured here with Tracy Eagle, an HS patient advocate, participating in the first patient directed Queensland Health Metro South Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) education day at the Translational Research Institute in Brisbane.

A major aim of the day was to establish plans for a patient led Australian HS patient support group for those who need support with HS, improved awareness, early diagnosis and management of the disease. If you have HS, or know someone who would be interested in joining or being a committee member for the HS patient support group, please message us and we will connect you with the relevant person.

South East Dermatology Stafford will be open on Monday. We will continue to follow our covid plan that was introduced during the previous lock down.

From 6:00pm tonight people living in Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, Moreton and Redlands will be required to stay home until 6:00pm Monday in a bid to stop the spread of the highly-infectious United Kingdom strain of the virus.
