More that 60% of new leaders don’t receive any training or professional development and are expected to just ‘get it’. Despite appearances most managers feel like they are failing at being effective as a leader. Imposter syndrome is rife!
Growth does not happen when we acquire knowledge. This is why traditional training methods are often unsuccessful. Their remains a gap between the “Knowing and Doing”. Often people will learn about leadership concepts and think “that’s nice to know if I ever need to change”, but rarely do they feel a felt desire to enact any meaningful change in their behavior when they return to the workplace.
What makes training successful?
Research shows that when our whole bodies are engaged in a learning experience, we internalize what we learn, and are better able to adapt our behavior in the real world, as a result our new skills transfer to the workplace much more readily than when we are passively engaged in learning.
Why this program works where other’s fail
Through an experiential, whole body learning process, this unique leadership program teaches people how to build trust, and authentically connect with others to achieve results. Leaders will learn how their communication preferences impact others and how to adapt to the differences within their teams.

FAQ’s
1. How could this workshop help my leaders?
This workshop will help emerging and existing leaders who lack self-awareness and self-confidence due to a lack of leadership skill. It is a non-traditional, interactive, movement based workshop where you they will learn essential skills in leadership and communication. We use horses as trainers and basic dance movement as a metaphor for non-verbal communication. No need for any horse or dance experience!
2. Who are these workshops for?
Those who fall asleep in traditional PowerPoint based workshops
Those who love action-based learning
Those who like being outside and not stuck in a classroom for the whole day
Those who like to practice the theory so they can get immediate feedback and skill development
Those who prefer small groups where they can get to know one another quickly, feel more comfortable and get personal attention
Those who love something different, something a little bit challenging and a little bit outside of their comfort zone.
3. Do they need to have had any horse or dance experience?
Simply…NO. The workshops are designed with the assumption that no previous dance or horse experience is expected or required.
4. But they have two left feet, will they still be able to learn?
YES! I hear this a lot but don’t worry they won’t be expected to perform a dance at the end of the workshop. We use partner dance concepts and moves to experience leading and following using non-verbal communication and body language.
Dance is about listening, trust and confidence as is leadership, learning how to do that in the body means that it becomes ingrained and you actually feel the difference.
5. Are the horses safe, I can’t afford a workcover suit?
My two horses are very friendly and really like people (not all horses do). All work is on the ground and no riding is involved. They will only be asked to do activities within safe gentle parameters.
Of course as this is an activity based workshop and involves animals, accidents may happen, however all risks have been considered and practices put in place to ensure your safety at all times.
We have both PI and PL insurance.
5. This all sounds a bit fluffy, will they actually learn something work related?
As an experienced Learning and Development Specialist and Leadership Facilitator; these workshops are based on research that I am currently undertaking part of my Doctorate in Creative Industries. There is a lot of evidence surrounding the benefits of equine facilitation and leadership as well as embodied and authentic leadership methods. Everyone who has attended, no matter what their background or experience, has learnt something about themselves and leadership. So YES the activities and concepts are real, practical and completely transferable to the workplace.
