The Pembrook Welsh breed have a long-held history with the Queen, with her passion for the pets originating at childhood.
Queen Elizabeth II's love for these dogs was inherited from her father King George VI. He brought home the family's first corgi, a puppy named Dookie in 1933.
On her 18th birthday, The Queen was gifted a corgi named Susan, from whom the rest of her corgis are said to be descended.
Since then, she is believed to have owned at least 30 corgis throughout her 70-year reign. With some of her pets being Dorgis(cross corgi and daschund)
Queen Elizabeth welcomed a new dog in January 2022. The new canine's nickname is Lissy - a fitting tribute to her new owner. In a change of tradition, she's a four-year-old cocker spaniel rather than a corgi or dorgi
