Have you ever wondered why an old scar still makes its presence known?
A subtle pull. A patch of skin that feels numb. A nagging ache in your lower back or pelvis — that no one has ever connected to the surgery you had years ago.

Scar tissue doesn't just sit quietly. It can adhere to muscle, fascia, and nerve pathways — quietly restricting movement, altering posture, and creating discomfort far from the original site.

As Dr. Bessel van der Kolk reminds us, "The body keeps the score."
A caesarean scar can contribute to pelvic floor dysfunction and disconnection from the lower body. An oncology scar can leave tissue tight, numb, or emotionally heavy — a daily reminder of a journey no one chooses.

But the body also has a remarkable capacity to heal — when given the right support.
Restore Scar Therapy at iCare Health Massage uses gentle, specialised techniques to soften adhesions, restore sensation, and release the tension held at the scar site. Careful, compassionate work — honouring both the physical and emotional layers of what your body has been through.

Whether your surgery was six weeks or ten years ago — it is never too late to begin.
Your body is ready to be heard. We are ready to listen. 🌿

Sometimes the body doesn't need force.
It just needs the right care.

This client had breast reconstruction surgery following breast cancer.

For months, her scar had received no dedicated treatment. Her shoulder felt tight and guarded. Lifting her arm was difficult, and simple daily movements had quietly become a struggle.

We spent 45 minutes working gently with the scar and the surrounding tissue. No strong pressure. No pain. Just slow, mindful work — following what the body was ready to release.

By the end of the session, her arm could reach significantly further. Her shoulder moved more freely. And something in her expression shifted too.

Healing after cancer is not just physical. It is a reclaiming. Of your body. Of your movement. Of yourself.

If you are living with a scar from breast surgery — mastectomy, lumpectomy, or reconstruction — you don't have to stay where you are. The body has more capacity to restore than we often believe.

Have you ever stopped to consider how much your body changes in the space of nine months?

A growing belly shifts your centre of gravity. Your pelvis widens. Your spine curves to compensate. Hormones soften ligaments, making every joint a little more vulnerable. Your sleep becomes fragmented, your energy unpredictable, and your body — as extraordinary as it is — quietly accumulates tension with each passing week.

Pregnancy is one of the most profound physical journeys a human body can undertake. And yet, so many mothers-to-be are told simply to "rest more" when the aches and discomforts begin.

But rest alone doesn't release the tight hips. It doesn't ease the lower back that has been labouring to support a new weight. It doesn't calm the nervous system that is working overtime — for two.

As midwife and researcher Sheila Kitzinger beautifully observed, "Pregnancy is a time of profound transformation — not just of the body, but of the whole self." This transformation deserves intentional, skilled support.

Pregnancy massage at iCare Health Massage is not a luxury. It is therapeutic care, delivered by a certified practitioner who understands the unique needs of the pregnant body at every stage.

Each session can help reduce lower back and hip pain, ease swelling in the legs and ankles, improve sleep quality, calm an overactive nervous system, and create a rare moment of stillness in a season of constant change.

Your body is doing something miraculous. It is growing life. It deserves to be cared for with the same tenderness it is offering every single day.

Whether you are in your first trimester navigating the unexpected, or your third counting down the days — you are welcome here, exactly as you are.

Your healing journey matters. And so does theirs.

Have you ever pushed through the pain, telling yourself you'll deal with it later — only to find that "later" never quite comes?

You're not alone. So many of us learn to adapt around discomfort. We shift our posture, avoid certain movements, power through the stiffness — until one day, the body stops asking quietly and starts demanding to be heard.

Remedial massage is not about temporary relief. It is about understanding why your body is holding tension in the first place, and doing something meaningful about it.

As the pioneering physiotherapist Janet Travell once said, "Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional." With the right care and the right therapist, real change is possible.

Here are 5 reasons why a session with Jenny at iCare Health Massage could be the turning point your body has been waiting for:

1. 14 years of clinical experience — not just touch, but trained therapeutic instinct that identifies what others miss.

2. She treats the cause, not just the symptom — addressing the root of your pain for results that actually last.

3. A genuinely whole-person approach — your stress, your posture, your lifestyle and history all matter in the treatment room.

4. Private health rebates available — with HICAPS on-site, you can claim on the spot. Your recovery is already partly funded.

5. You leave with a plan — not just a feeling. Jenny ensures every patient understands what their body needs and how to support it between sessions.

Your body has been carrying more than it should, for longer than it should. It communicates with you through tension, fatigue, and that persistent ache that just won't quit. These are not signs of weakness — they are invitations to heal.

The journey back to comfort begins with one decision. Let that decision be today.

𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗲.

This client came in carrying the weight of her caesarean — not just the scar itself, but the bloating, the heaviness, and that familiar feeling of being disconnected from her own belly.

Her scar had never received any dedicated care after birth.

We spent 45 minutes working gently along the scar line and the surrounding tissue. No strong pressure. No pain. Just slow, intentional work to help the body soften and release.

After the session, the bloating reduced visibly. The tissue felt less dense. And she said, for the first time in a long time, she could feel her lower abdomen again.

A caesarean is major surgery. The scar it leaves deserves more than time alone.

Your body remembers everything it has been through. And it is always ready to heal — when it is given the right support.

Jenny 💚
