Have you seen that this Community Forum is happening on the 28 February - there will be an update from our Save the Stirling Hospital Association Chair, Dr Scott Brumby and Josh Teague - Member for Heysen on the Hospital. Also some interesting updates on the Woolworths site and the AHC CEO.

I am pleased to have been invited to speak at the upcoming Rotary Club of Stirling, SA Community Forum.

It is an opportunity for all community members to get an update on the Stirling Hospital, the Woolworths site redevelopment, the Stirling Business Association and hear from the Adelaide Hills Council CEO Greg Georgopoulos on his first six months in the role.

This is good news from Josh Teague - Member for Heysen - well done to the Save the Stirling Hospital committee!

The Stirling Hospital Board today reassured our community that it is now looking increasingly possible that the Hospital will stay and continue operating at its current location at Stirling, as it has done for nearly 100 years. This is now the Board’s preferred outcome.

Importantly, this follows reassessment of the circumstances in which the Board announced to us last April that it required $50 million of capital works to achieve operating compliance. That is no longer the case. Much of those works are now not required in the short-medium term, or at all. The Hospital has also achieved fresh on-going accreditation.

Together with Save the Stirling Hospital Inc. and our community, I will continue in 2024 the work to ensure that Stirling Community Hospital stays in Stirling.

On Monday evening Fergus McLachlan, Dr Scott Brumby, Nick Bagot, Assoc Prof Margaret Way and Dr Trevor Collinson from the Save the Stirling Hospital committee, met with the CEO and Board of the Stirling Hospital. This was an open and productive meeting with a constructive approach from the Hospital Board members.

We explained our primary goal is that we can assist the Board to find a solution where the Board needs are met and the hospital stays in Stirling

The committee is meeting next week to discuss the outcomes of this meeting and an email update will be provided to all members of the Save the Stirling Hospital Association.
