Have you ever felt uncomfortable in your body?
Body neutrality sits at the centre of my work with people who feel uneasy, critical, or disconnected from their bodies.
I share a history of body shame. I’ve lived in a body that’s been smaller and larger at different times, and it’s one of the least interesting things about me.
What matters far more is noticing when I feel steady or anxious, free or preoccupied, trusting or at war with myself and responding with care.
Recently, I had the privilege of hearing Kristy speak at Sustainher about supporting women to feel worthy. I recognised immediately how aligned our compassionate, sustainable philosophies are.
There was no shame in the room, only strength, curiosity, and respect for the many ways women inhabit their bodies.
So many of us carry internal stories about what our bodies “should” look like. These narratives are shaped by family, culture, medicine, media, and years of comparison, and many people quietly conclude they’re the problem. They’re not.
In therapy, we shift that. We build trust, calm, and confidence beyond appearance. My work is size inclusive and evidence based. Weight doesn’t equal health, and it certainly doesn’t equal worth.
Body neutrality protects you against the shifting, often unattainable, and frequently edited standards of beauty and it creates space for a more peaceful, sustainable relationship with yourself.
