👋🏼 To all my peri-pals out there, here’s a good lesson I learnt this week:
✨ As you know, I bang on a lot about resting and listening to your body. So I had a bit of a “do as I say, not as I do” moment during the week.
✨ Seeing my knee surgery recovery has been going so well, I have been back in the gym and very excited with the ranges I’ve been able to do, that I couldn’t do for a few years prior surgery.
🫣 Unfortunately, I didn’t take into account my peri-menopausal body that had a bit of a freak out by Thursday, because getting up at 4:30am every weekday, gymming it, working, doing mum stuff and then side-hustle business stuff was all too much too soon for this little duck 🦆
After my gym session Thursday, I woke up feeling exhausted (I usually wake feeling well rested) - even after taking the day off the gym Wed to rest - I could not get my energy back and was drained and tired all day.
👍🏼 Yesterday and today have been better, but it’s been a really good lesson that we MUST listen to our bodies.
This is not negotiable.
✨ There are some women who can manage this no problems, and in the past, I have been able to manage this myself - but my body is still recovering and getting back to normal, so I need to make allowances for that.
The same goes for all of you. It is so important, now more than ever that you listen to your body and give yourself the rest you deserve. And not compare yourself to anyone else, even if you’re working out together.
And if you’re starting out on a new fitness/nutrition plan, take.it.slow. Slow and steady wins the race. 🐢vs 🐇
✨ I’ve put myself back a bit because I now have an inflamed knee and am limping again (silly, silly me), and need to rest it for another week.
😌 So, allow me to be a cautionary tale of why it’s important to listen to your body.
👉🏼 And no, exhaustion is not normal…just because it’s common doesn’t make it normal.
💕 You deserve better than that.
If you’re feeling constantly exhausted and are not sure where to start, reach out for an Intro phone call, and see if you can make some positive changes.
Do something different this year 🐴✨💕
