IVF Acupuncture research can be a little confusing 🤔

There has been quite a journey with IVF acupuncture research as of late and while the research first began looking at just embryo transfer, it now suggests a higher dose of acupuncture care prior to and during your IVF cycle can be beneficial.

The most recent 2019 data suggested that 3 or more acupuncture treatments may offer the greatest benefit😮🤰

Dearest new mum ...

We love this insightful and gentle letter to new mamas from Spirit Y SolThose early days can be such a mix of emotions and can be utterly overwhelming. Please, don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it.

“Dearest new mama- You are sore and leaky and more tired than you could have ever imagined. Everything is soaked in breast milk and tears.

Everything hurts. Your body has literally stretched to its breaking point, or perhaps was cut open to make space for the miracle of life. Your heart aches with a love so huge it feels as though going to break you in half and sometimes you can’t breathe because it all feels too big.

They told you about the waves of birth but no one told you about the intense waves of postpartum- the euphoria and joy that lifts you up, and the heavy weight that drops you suddenly and leaves you sobbing into receiving blankets.

You look back across the sea and the journey you’ve made- and in the distance you see the maiden you once were. So much has changed in so little time and you wonder if you’ll ever find your way back to that self. You wouldn’t change this love for the world, but something inside you aches for familiar ground and the woman you once were.

This is all so new and raw. But you will find your way, sweet mama. You have not left yourself behind, you’ve simply grown new wings. The maiden you with her carefree ways and wild spirit is still inside you, and always will be. Follow the compass of your heart.

Allow the tears to fall. You will find your way, and your self will be waiting for you with open arms when you do.”

Su***de is a very real potential side-effect to some medications — medications that are prescribed to teens and young adults. The dangers made headlines in the early 2000's when FDA and Congressional hearings were flooded with families who'd lost loved ones who had taken a class of antidepress...

Ovulation is the main event of the menstrual cycle. Why? Because it's how we humans make the hormones we need to be healthy. According to endocrinology professor Jerilynn Prior (who helped me with my book Period Repair Manual), women benefit from 35 to 40 years of natural *ovulatory* cycles, not just for fertility but also to prevent osteoporosis, stroke, dementia, heart disease, and breast cancer.
The 3 main obstacles to ovulation include 1) hormonal birth control, 2) undereating (and undereating carbs), and 3) PCOS.
If you want to hear me speak (just a wee bit passionately) about ovulation and hormones, join me at the upcoming Holistic Performance Nutrition Conference in Auckland next weekend. Sign up here 👉 http://www.holisticperformancenutrition.com/hpn-2018-conference.html

Being told you have PCOS when you don’t is a problem. That’s the conclusion of a recent BMJ study which says that PCOS is being overdiagnosed and causing women a lot of unnecessary distress.

Here are just a few of the crazy things we've been asked to believe about hormonal birth control. Can you think of some more?
The "regulates periods" thing is the craziest. A real period is an ovulatory cycle in which ovulation occurs and wonderful progesterone is made. In contrast, the pill works by shutting down ovarian function and inducing a kind of chemical menopause. And then replacing your own wonderful progesterone with substandard steroid drugs like levonorgestrel which alter the shape of your brain.
