Can clinical pilates and gym be done together and not interfere with each other?

> YES - At Strathmore Physiotherapy & Pilates, when someone has an injury, pain or deconditioning, the most important part of beginning the treatment/rehab journey is the initial assessment.

If Clinical Pilates is the best way to treat the problem, we will work out the most specific and effective way to exercise in our fully equipped pilates studio.

Once progress is being made, if the patient would like to return to the gym or start a gym program, the principles and effectiveness of our program can be implemented into a gym program - and we are happy to guide you or your personal trainer with a program that is safe and effective.

Please visit strathmorephysiopilates.com.au and book online or phone 9379 3831.

Practice what we preach!!

As Physiotherapists, we, like everybody, need to be mindful of our posture and strength because our job can be physical in nature at times.

Here is Tim, our newest Physiotherapist doing some clinical pilates exercises that he needs to do to stay fit and healthy - prevention is better than cure!

If you require physiotherapy support, contact Tim Whale at Strathmore Physiotherapy and Pilates. He may look at a treatment plan that includes clinical pilates to help improve your physical health.

Do kids have the same injuries as adults - can they tear a hamstring or ligaments?

✅ Yes - while kids' connective tissue is more elastic and malleable in children than an adults, soft tissue injuries can still occur as they do in adults.

✅ Just like adults, the same treatment principles occur - rest, rehab and return to sport.

At Strathmore Physiotherapy & Pilates, we will get your kids back to the activities they love safely and as quickly as possible.

No one likes missing out on what they enjoy, especially kids. 🏀🏏⚽️🏑

If your child needs an appointment, contact Tim Whale or Ashley Metcalfe at Strathmore Physiotherapy and Pilates.

A common question we receive - what is the difference between traditional pilates and clinical pilates?

👉🏻 Clinical pilates is a research-based interpretation of traditional pilates, developed and used by Physiotherapists to build individualised exercise programs specific to each person and their unique set of injuries or problems.

👉🏻 Rather than including all exercises in all directions, Physiotherapists trained in the use of Clinical Pilates will choose or omit exercises based on direction-sensitive clinical assessment (ie streamline the approach).

👉🏻 Clinical Pilates is especially suitable for those requiring specific, individualised, therapeutic exercise-based treatment, not simply a generic exercise class.

👉🏻 In a nutshell, general strength exercises don’t always fix everything and in fact, sometimes, the more variety that is done, the less effective the outcome. Clinical Pilates is a form of treatment, so by doing very specific exercises repetitively, a more effective outcome is often achieved.

If you think Clinical Pilates can help you, please visit 💻 strathmorephysiopilates.com.au and book online or phone ☎️ 9379 3831.
