🍎 Fuelling our caregivers, 24/7! 🥗

We are officially open! Yesterday, we cut the ribbon on our brand-new Morsl Micro Market, bringing fresh, nutritious, and convenient food options to the Subiaco team. ✂️🎀

It was fantastic to see so many friendly faces in the Caregiver Dining Room for the launch - and a huge thank you to the Morsl team for joining us and handing out those delicious testers to celebrate.

This brand-new, self-service market is designed to provide our hardworking caregivers with fresh, healthy, and nutritious food and drink options 24/7. This new service is in addition to the existing lunch service provided by our kitchen, ensuring that high-quality choices are available around the clock, whether it’s for a late-night pick-me-up or a quick meal outside of standard lunch hours.

🎁 CAREGIVER GIVEAWAY
To celebrate the launch, we’re giving away 3 x Morsl vouchers.

👉 Check your caregiver email or look for the posters around the hospital for full entry details.

We can’t wait to see your snaps 📸✨

Today is International Day of the Midwife and we’d like to thank our amazing midwifery team for the vital work they do 🩷🫶🏻

Each year, they help welcome more than 4,000 babies into the world with kindness, care and compassion. From a baby’s first heartbeat through to the first year of life, they ensure every family feels safe, supported and empowered.

To celebrate, we shared plenty of cake and gratitude with our maternity caregivers. We also asked our social media community to share midwife memories. Here’s a snippet of what they said:

“Our midwife was the most beautiful, calming, and supportive person.”

“I can’t thank the Subi midwifery team enough for helping make the experience so enjoyable for me.”

“My husband and I want to thank the amazing midwives and nurses for their care and compassion.”

“My midwife was on her first day back from parental leave and honestly could not have been more amazing! Advocated and supported me through a wonderful birth experience.”

“I had the same midwife come visit me a few nights in a row after my birth and she was the most beautiful, comforting lady. I will never, ever forget her.”

To our midwives, your care, compassion and expertise truly means the world to us and the families you care for 🩷

Today, a beautiful ripple of kindness found its way into the rooms of our patients. 🤍

We were deeply touched to receive a generous, anonymous donation of wedding flowers that transformed our wards with a sea of beautiful white blooms. After celebrating a day of love, these arrangements were thoughtfully shared with our palliative care, oncology and maternity clinic patients.

In a busy world, gestures like this remind us how much simple kindness matters.

Our heartfelt thanks to the anonymous newlyweds for their quiet generosity. 🙏

Today, we are celebrating our incredible administrative caregivers 👋👨‍💻🙂

They are often the first point of contact for our patients, providing a sense of calm and compassion during their most challenging moments. By living our values of hospitality, justice, excellence, compassion, and respect, they make a lasting difference in the lives of our patients, families, and the entire hospital community.

To our admin team: thank you for your professionalism, your accuracy, and your unwavering dedication. We couldn't do it without you! 💙

❤️ END OF AN ERA FOR WARD 41❤️

On Friday, members of our community gathered for a final farewell to a space that has meant so much to so many - our cardiac and vascular ward.

It was wonderful to see current and past caregivers and specialists come together for a beautiful afternoon of sharing stories and honouring the incredible care delivered to thousands of patients within these walls over the years.

Although it is always difficult to say goodbye to spaces with such history, this milestone marks an important step forward in our redevelopment and the future of the hospital. 🏗️

Anzac Day is more than a date - it’s a moment to pause, reflect, and remember.

We honour the courage and sacrifice of those who have served, and the more than 100,000 Australians who have lost their lives in service to our nation. We also recognise those who continue to serve today.

For many, service doesn’t end when they return home. The invisible wounds of war, including trauma and post-traumatic stress, can last long after active duty.

For over 30 years, St John of God Health Care has supported members of Australia’s defence and veteran community through specialised trauma care - a commitment that continues to grow.

With the opening of a trauma recovery unit at our Langmore Centre in Berwick last year, we’ve expanded access to holistic, trauma-informed care for emergency services and defence personnel and their families.

Today, we remember their service and sacrifice - and reaffirm our commitment to supporting them every day.

Lest we forget.

ANZAC Day is an opportunity for Australians and New Zealanders to come together and recognise all who have served – whether in wars, conflicts, peacekeeping or other operations. It’s a heartfelt reminder of the sacrifices made for our way of life, and of the values that shaped and unite our communities.

To commemorate this, and to signify our deep commitment to peace, harmony and healing we are inviting you to be involved in our Poppies for Peace Project - a large-scale poppy display to be exhibited in our hospital on ANZAC Day 2027 ❤️

The display will require thousands of poppies and we need your help!
Poppies can be crocheted, knitted, sewn, felted and made from paper. Caregivers, patients and our extended hospital community are invited to participate too.

To find out more about the project or to download poppy patterns, please click the link to our project webpage 👉 bit.ly/PoppiesforPeace

We were delighted to host a ‘Courtyard Concert’ featuring internationally renowned group The London Essentials yesterday 🧡

The performance filled our hospital with music and brought joy to members of our community, including patients, visitors, caregivers, volunteers and medical specialists.

Known for their immersive style, the band performed a variety of uplifting classics, transforming our central courtyard into a vibrant hub of song and celebration.

A special highlight was their visit to our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, where our tiniest patients receive highly specialised care. For families navigating what can be an incredibly challenging time, this gift of music offered a welcome moment of comfort and relief.

The band also visited our Intensive Care and Coronary Care Units.

We extend our sincere thanks to Mrs Gina Rinehart AO and Hancock Prospecting for their generosity in making this experience possible.
