Tomorrow, our Head of Cardiology Dr Paul Stobie will embark on a 700km bike ride from Albany to Perth, raising vital funds and awareness for the prevention of youth su***de and depression. 🚴♂️
Paul is participating in the Hawaiian Ride for Youth, an annual event which raises vital funds for Youth Focus, a not-for-profit group providing free mental health services to young people aged 12 to 25.
It’s his first time taking on the challenge, after six months of training. And while those 4.15am starts haven’t been easy, Dr Stobie says they’re nothing compared to what many young people and families face.
“As doctors, we see every day how closely physical and mental health are connected, and just how common mental health challenges are.”
“It’s especially important that young people know they’re not alone, that help is available, and there are people who care deeply about them.
Dr Stobie has already raised almost $60,000 and is hoping to go even further.
