It's Neurodiversity Celebration Week! What is neurodiversity? Neurodiversity is the idea that all brains are different. Neurodiversity awareness is about promoting understanding that there are many different ways that people think, learn, process and interact with the world. It reminds us that differences are to be embraced, celebrated and supported in ways each individual wants to be supported.

We created this video, Neurodiverse Brains, to explain neurodiversity in a simple, fun way - great for supporting kids and families to learn about these important ideas!

Many autistic people and families face challenges when using services such as healthcare, transport, education and community activities. At the moment, there is no national information that shows how common these challenges are, or how they affect wellbeing.

A new study led by the Aspect Research Centre for Autism Practice (ARCAP) is exploring the accessibility of services and places for autistic people in Australia. This research aims to inform future policies, services and practices so everyday environments better support autistic people and their families.

You are welcome to take part in this research if you:
• are an autistic adult (formally or self-identified), or
• are a parent or caregiver of an Autistic person (of any age)
• live in Australia.

📋 Participants will complete an anonymous 10–30-minute online survey about your experiences with services and community settings in the past 12 months.
💛 As a thank you, we will donate $2AUD to your choice of four charities when you complete the survey.

Have you heard of autistic burnout? Many autistic people report a sense of profound fatigue. Now, new research uncovers more understanding around what autistic burnout feels like, and what causes it.

💡 Here, autism researcher Dr Jack Brett discusses the recent study, which reviewed 48 studies with 4,000 autistic people – and highlights that autistic burnout is not a personal failure, it’s a systemic issue.
