We were incredibly proud to see WA Portuguese Community Citizen of the year and our own funeral director, Mel McKay, speak so beautifully from the heart.

Mel shared the richness of the knowledge, customs and beliefs passed down from generations of women in the Portuguese community and beyond.

All proceeds raised on the day go towards Breast Cancer Care WA., helping provide vital services to those affected by breast cancer.

Kathy's calling to become a funeral director began at just 15 years old, when she sought work experience at her local funeral home. Her professional journey formally began in 2002, guided and mentored by Mareena Purslowe herself.

Today, Kathy feels deeply privileged to support families as they navigate the funeral process. She is committed to offering clarity, comfort and reassurance during one of the most emotional and significant moments in their lives.
