The pure love of academic studies runs deep in the past generations in my family. Even though I have never met my paternal granddad who passed away before I was born, I get to appreciate his talent of art and language through his work around my hometown (a small town in Malaysia, Malaya at that time in the South China Sea). He was a well known scholar in the town at that era, for his love of Chinese calligraphy and literature. He had been frequently commissioned to write for the temples, and also the clan houses and clubs. At that time due to poverty and lack of opportunity, my granddad did not had the chance to go to university, but that had not stopped him from continuing his passion for Chinese art and literature.
I feel so lucky and blessed for the chance and encouragement given to travel internationally- UK and Australia, to pursue my study and continue my doctorate and specialist career in medicine. I do love the science and art in reproductive medicine and pregnancy health. Looking after small little embryos, using science, technology and wholesome lifestyle advice nurturing them into healthy beautiful babies for the families that I care for.
It is especially humbling to be reminded that I have looked after a number of families for many years. Sometimes families are blessed with quite a few children under my care over a few years; at other times the long timeframes are due to the long and difficult journeys of fertility matters, with a few heartbreaking miscarriages in between. It is a privilege and also very special to experience the joy when we have a healthy beautiful baby in the parents' arms for the family.
I feel so lucky to have such a great job.
