About Dr Vij - Specialist Plastic Surgeon

Dr Vij Vijayasekaran completed medical training at the University of Western Australia (UWA) in 1995, graduating with degrees in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. Vij was admitted to a plastic surgery fellowship in 2000 and completed 5 years of specialist training at Royal Perth Hospital, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital. He was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in 2005. Vij then undertook post-fellowship training in cosmetic surgery in Melbourne and Toronto, Canada before returning to Perth in 2007. Vij was also the first surgeon in Australia to complete the Advanced Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship awarded by the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. Vij was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for providing medical expertise and assistance to the victims of the Bali bombings at Sanglah Hospital in Denpasar, Bali in 2002. He was also jointly awarded ‘Australian of the Year’ by The Australian newspaper. In addition to his private practice at Assure Cosmetic Centre and the Western Australian Plastic Surgery Centre, Vij is a Consultant Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon at Princess Margaret Hospital.

Bilateral removal of implants, partial capsulectomy, and pocket change (two existing pockets).

New implant in old sub muscular pocket and sub gland pocket closed.

525cc implants were removed and replaced with MENTOR® 450cc Siltex Moderate Plus Implants with tailor tacking Mastopexy.

Skin removal of 61g to the left side, and 50g to the right side.

The procedure involved initial bilateral liposuction of 250cc per side, followed by a superomedial pedicle Breast Reduction.

BILATERAL BREAST AUGMENTATION

This patient underwent Bilateral Breast Augmentation using MENTOR® CPG 322 395cc implants.

Pre-operatively, she demonstrated breast asymmetry with a greater degree of ptosis on the right side and an associated difference in notch-to-nipple distance secondary to mild scoliosis.

To improve symmetry, a dual plane technique was performed on the right breast, while a submuscular technique was utilised on the left breast.

This patient underwent Bilateral Breast Reduction for large ptotic asymmetrical breasts.

A short scar reduction technique with a superomedial pedicle was performed.

The procedure commenced with Liposuction to the inferior and lateral breast regions, removing approximately 250cc per side, followed by breast resection of 300g from the right breast and 175g from the left breast.

BREAST IMPLANT REMOVAL & AUGMENTATION

This patient underwent a breast implant removal and replacement (Augmentation), with a Mastopexy (lift).

The procedure involved removal of implants due to a severely over-dissected inferior lateral pocket.

This was corrected utilising an internal bra technique, with the pocket subsequently medialised to achieve an improved cleavage, followed by a tailor tacking Mastopexy.

The new implants used were MENTOR® 450cc Siltex Moderate Plus Cohesive 2 implants, placed in a sub-muscular position.

Specialist Plastic Surgeon

Dr Vij Vijayasekaran completed his under graduate medical training at the University of Western Australia (UWA) in 1995, graduating with degrees in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.

Vij commenced his advanced training in plastic and reconstructive surgery in 2000. He completed his advanced training and was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in 2005.

Vij subsequently undertook a further optional two and a half years of post-fellowship training in cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery under the supervision of world leading plastic surgeons in Melbourne and Toronto, Canada before returning to Perth in 2007.
