FLASHBACK FRIDAY - What happens when someone finally sees your potential?

After injuring her neck and leg, Leonie felt invisible.

At 57, she believed her age and disability were stopping her from finding work.

That changed when she connected with APM Employment Services.

In this video from our time with Leonie we see how with support from her consultant Alysha and an inclusive employer, Leonie found a role that fits her skills and her life.

Small adjustments like a supportive chair and a refresher course made a big difference.

We’re sharing Leonie's story, along with other people whose lives have changed with inclusive employment, ahead of the launch of Inclusive Employment Australia on 1 November.

The program replaces Disability Employment Services and aims to give more people with disability, injury, or health conditions access to tailored support to find meaningful work.

“I was given 10 days to live…”

Few stories we’ve shared start with the dramatic news Ben’s parents received when he was just six years old.

Diagnosed with cancer, Ben’s childhood involved gruelling rounds of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

The treatment saved his life but left him with just 6% of sight in one eye.

Fast forward to today and Ben is friendly face to many in the Bairnsdale arts community.

Despite his visual impairment, he has never stopped pursuing his goals and taking on challenges – even when things got tough.

He came to APM Employment Services during a difficult time when rejection from job opportunities started to take its toll.

Watch Ben talk about his journey to finding a career he loves, in a thriving community where he is now supporting and inspiring other people with disability. https://apm.net.au/des/ben-and-apm-employment-services-2025

Ben was supported by Disability Employment Services – which changes to become Inclusive Employment Australia from 1 November. Find out more about the change on our website: https://apm.net.au/des/find-a-job/disability-employment-services/inclusive-employment-australia
