Age 73!

Caroline Marler, 73, shows her extraordinary all-round athleticism as she poises prior to her winning throw of 7.35m at the The BMAF British Masters Athletics Federation indoor at Lee Valley Athletics Centre last weekend. Caroline is a multi-disciplinary athlete, holding British records in the indoor Pentathlon and High Jump events as well as British outdoor records for both the Pentathlon and the Heptathlon events in her 70-74 year old age group. She and I are almost the same age but what strikes me in particular as I look at her here, as she readies herself for the throw, is not only her obvious strength but also her balance. (Haha well just about EVERYTHING strikes me, if I'm actually comparing myself to her. I can't believe I'm singling anything out.) Her poise, though, just blows me away. Maybe it's because I'm struggling so much with my own balance these days that Caroline's perfect stance, as she prepares on one foot, to swivel round and throw that extremely heavy shot, that it's this in particular that leaves me so awe-struck. Honestly, friends, everywhere you look at these championships makes you want to use that word, 'awe'. I just wish they received more publicity so that more of you could see them yourselves first hand. They're world-wide events, and if you hunt out your local masters athletics club or federation, I bet you'll find something you can go to. You'll be seeing people like Caroline, so you'll be happy you did, trust me🌻😊👍

My take on forgive and forget (big issue right now) goes like this - don’t seek forgiveness seek forgetfulness. This is an action. Whatever you’ve done or had done to you is going to drag you down unless you let it go. But letting go is not a concept it’s an action. Every grievance and grudge forms a little blockage that stops the smooth flow of chi through the body, if they just sit there blockages get worse, you can’t shake anything off, can’t forgive anything or anyone and crave vengeance. It’s a bitter energy. Untreated grudges grow and can derail the destiny train. So we tackle it with ‘physical forgetting’ by heading to a state where that stuff doesn’t exist. There’s several strategies, like break the blockages down with rhythmic lifestyle to promote chi flow and Chinese herbal formulas. Next level is activate Yintang, the third eye, where your light dwells (grudges don’t exist there). I use this in acupuncture regularly, it’s your ‘spiritual residence’ and is networked into everything. You can tap that point when the grudge feeling rises and it vanishes. Focus on it during meditation. Keep going and one day you’ll remember that you totally forgot something that used to consume you.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

You can avoid alcohol, drugs, sugar, salt, wheat,
dairy and carbohydrates your whole entire life,
You can exercise, meditate
and focus half your day on your health...

But if you are swallowing your dreams,
your ambitions, your regrets, your fears,
your desires and your bitterness on a daily basis,
you will suffer my friend.

For nothing,
nothing,
rots the flesh more,
than the negative emotions,
we ram down our own throats,
on a daily basis.

Food for thought.

Say your truths,
live your own way,
be yourself,
accept who you are,
accept who others are too,
share your dreams,
honour your desires,
chase your ambitions,
or don’t.

Perhaps your ambition is quite simply to be peaceful.
Whatever it is you choose to do,
give yourself peace.

It’s the most healing and rejuvenating path of them all.
