If you’ve followed me for awhile you know this is a topic I love to BANG on about and it’s because it’s the NUMBER ONE and the MOST COMMON REASON I see women:
- struggling to lose weight
- feeling hungry all the time
- have no willpower and crave sugar

It’s they aren’t eating enough for what their body needs but last night I got proof (again) why eating more works!!

The diet industry has told you for years, decades even, for women to lose weight they need to eat less and try restrict diets.

But as someone who has seen the damage that’s been done from this messaging from being in the industry for over 13 years…

Take it from me - your body deserves to be fuelled.

It deserves to be nourished.
It deserves to feel its best.

+ LET’S THROW IT BACK TO 2016 +
My laptop that contains all my uni notes and photos from 2016 sadly couldn’t turn on but I sifted through my socials like most influencers have been doing this past week to see what 2016 looked like for me…

And for most of it, I’m still doing the same 😅

But in a completely different way!

🏠 I still live in the same house but it’s not an ugly mission brown brick house anymore - with Hubby being busy turning our 80s home into a coastal looking cottage.

With the biggest transformation- converting the garage to my own studio and own space to help women feel welcomed & supported on their health and fitness journey 💪

10 years ago I was still in the fitness industry as a 23 year old who LOVED teaching group fitness classes (Pump being my favourite) and loved throwing myself into a challenge.

🏋️‍♀️I was a trainer, marketing manager, challenge designer and the “smiling assasin” at Freedom Fitness - Sunbury’s ONLY female focused gym and for a short while in 2016 I also worked in a Craigieburn female only gym.

👩‍🎓I was in my second year of uni - which was the most my brain had ever worked! BUT it was where I studied my favourite subject and learned how to treat nearly every health condition through understanding biology, pathology and nutritional medicine.

And the up there as one of my best days of my life - Western Bulldogs won their first grand final in 52 years 🏆

I cried, my whole Dad’s side of the family cried then I stripped off for a celebratory photo (this was a common occurrence in my 20’s 😅).❤️🤍💙

Although not much looks like it has changed…
- I have more qualifications (degree in hand)
- I’m more passionate than ever to help women in the health and fitness industry feel strong & confident
- I’ve gotten better at marketing and design (I think 😆)

I’m looking forward to what the next decade brings!

I still visualize working in the health and fitness industry but maybe (hopefully) have moved house and opened my own studio in town 😉

+ READ THIS BEFORE STARTING ANOTHER DETOX +
January has a funny way of convincing women that their body needs to be “fixed.”

A few indulgent weeks and suddenly the answer is:
👉Eat less.
👉Drink this.
👉Detox harder.

But here’s the thing most of us were never taught - 
your body already knows how to detox.

What it doesn’t know how to do is function well when it’s under-fuelled, stressed, and stuck on a blood sugar rollercoaster.

If you’ve tried detoxes before and ended up:
• Hungrier
• More tired
• More obsessed with food
• Back where you started

It’s not a willpower problem.

It’s a biology problem.

You don’t need another reset.

You need to understand how your body actually works - and support it properly.

And did Summer turn it on with 30-40c days!! 🔥

But members got in early, stayed committed and achieved all over strength workouts before the heat hit.

We had members even pick up a few extra classes while on holidays 👏 LOVE the commitment!

If they can achieve that in Week 1, can’t wait to see what they achieve for the rest of the year.

Next week brings cooler weather, more members returning from break and more chances for new members to join in!

+ WHAT DO YOU EAT FOR LUNCH? +
If it’s a salad… it’s probably not enough to keep your metabolism firing.

I have seen this same scenario over and over again in my 13 years in the health and fitness industry.

Women have been told for decades by the diet industry if they want to lose weight, they need to be eating salads for lunch.

It has to be low calories.
No carbs.
Skip the dressing (or put it on the side).

Midlife women who lived through the 90s-2000s diet culture - does this relate? 🙋‍♀️

In reality, a salad with NO protein, NO carbs and NO flavour is going to leave you feeling:
🍽️ Hungry 1-2 hours later
🍽️ Craving quick fuel like sweet or salty snacks
🍽️ Binging later on in the day

Because that salad is not enough fuel for a woman who is going to spend the rest of the day working, rushing from one errand to the next, looking after everyone else’s needs and potentially get some minutes in moving her body too!

No - it’s going to leave her:
😴 Exhausted
😡 Hangry
🥴 Ravenous

Then leave her feeling guilty and like a failure because she thinks she has lacked willpower and failed another diet.

When in fact, she was trying to fight her own biology and that diet was never going to work because how can your metabolism fire up when it has no fuel to use.

So if you are reading this and you are a salad eater, two things:
1️⃣ Do not blame yourself or feel bad - this is years and years of diet culture putting pressure on you and giving you misinformation

2️⃣ You can still have your salads but ADD MORE to fuel your metabolism.

❗️Don’t skip the protein. 2x cans of tuna (yes 2!), a chicken breast with seasoning, honey salmon 🤤, 3 boiled eggs, 1/2 can of legumes or some chilli tofu.

❗️Add some energizing carbs. 1/2 cup of rice, quinoa, pasta, potato, cous cous or croutons

❗️Make sure it’s full of flavour. Drizzle the dressing, add some spices. More flavoursome it is, less likely you are going to revert back to eating a processed lunch.

Again, no judgement here just education so you can make an EMPOWERED and INFORMED choices 💪
