Falls Prevention Awareness Month is here, and the team at Need2Heal are BIG on preventing falls.

Falls are a major health issue in the community, with around 30% of adults over 65 experiencing at least one fall per year. This is set to increase as Australia’s population ages, with the proportion of people aged over 65 predicted to increase from 14% (3 million people) in 2010 to 23% (8.1 million people) in 2050 – Australia and New Zealand Falls Prevention Society.

Most falls happen in and around the home, but falls can also happen in residential aged care homes and hospitals.

We know that the stretch over the public holidays are usually the most inconvenient time to find medical support due to services being closed.
