🦵 Is Your Teenager Complaining of Knee Pain? It Could Be Osgood-Schlatter Disease.
Osgood-Schlatter Disease is one of the most common causes of knee pain in active kids and teens—especially during growth spurts. It’s caused by repetitive pulling of the patellar tendon on the shinbone, often from sports like basketball, soccer, or netball.
⚠️ Common symptoms include:
▪️ A painful bump just below the kneecap
▪️ Pain that worsens with running, jumping or kneeling
▪️ Swelling or tenderness at the top of the shin
The good news? ✅ It’s not dangerous—and physiotherapy can help.
At Sunbury Physio, we guide young athletes through:
✔️ Safe activity modification (not total rest!)
✔️ Strength and load management
✔️ Education for families, coaches and teens
✔️ A confident, gradual return to sport
💡 Osgood-Schlatter usually resolves with time—but early physio helps reduce pain and keep your child active.
