First established late in 2010 with 1250 trees planted on 9 acres of fertile land, the olive grove setup completed in the month Australia's longest drought was declared over. Timing could not have been better with the plentiful rains in 2011 yielding fruit (albeit a small yield) in the first year of being established. La Bozzetta Estate aims to bring traditional techniques passed down from generations of olive growers from the small island of Stromboli, Italy. Although Stromboli is now famous for it's volcanic activity and popular tourist destination, it was once famous for its agriculture, producing olives and capers for the mainland. The Strombolian techniques and recipes are being followed to produce a high class extra virgin olive oil and other olive products. As the grove matures products will expand to paste, balms, soaps and olive leaf extract known for its healing properties. As a second generation Australian from Strombolian ancestors, the teachings of self sufficiency and sustainability are part of what La Bozzetta Estate is all about. As the Olive Grove matures, more products and services will become available to help teach tomorrows kids the value of healthy living and lifestyle. Reminding them that good food is grown at home and a lot can be provided with very little and that if you respect the land, then the land will provide for you year after year. With Australia becoming the food bowl of the world, it is extremely important that we continue and improve the techniques over the next generations and encourage our children to carry on the learnings - that is of course if we can keep them off Facebook :-)
