Leigh is celebrating two years post heart transplant. She has come a long way in her rehabilitation journey! She continues to smash goals every time she comes into the clinic. Leigh's determination and journey is an inspiration for all

“Before my heart transplant, and ever since in my long, complicated recovery, Kahryn has been a really important member of my health team. She knows that sometimes I need encouragement to rest rather than encouragement to do more. Kahryn is proactive in seeking info from my specialists about my changing status. I feel safe and supported with Kahryn and her team. Strongly recommended for anyone with a chronic illness, or who hasn’t received the right help in other settings.” - Leigh

Monday marked the start of National Stroke Week, an annual campaign by Stroke Foundation, helping Australians to prevent strokes from occurring and aid in the recovery process of those who have experienced a stroke by sharing knowledge, support and resources.

While strokes relate to a disrupted blood flow to the brain, they are constituted by cardiovascular disease whereby a blood clot may prevent oxygen and nutrients from reaching the brain or a weakened blood vessel may rupture and leak into surrounding brain tissue.

Similarly to heart disease, the best way of managing your risk of stroke is to avoid smoking, eating healthy, exercising, and managing stress.
