I instruct placement of feet for no other reason than to protect clients’ and students’ bodies. The feet are the foundation in all standing postures. Stability, strength, balance start nowhere else.
When standing, always point the big toes straight forward as in the body’s orientation and alignment. Some teachers instruct the second big toes. If mindful of the placement of these two pairs of phalanges, ankle, all the way to the shoulder joints are especially protected and kept safe. Practise safe

A joyous Easter to everyone! May the season bring some insight and reflection and true realisation of what it means to be Homo Sapiens, i. e., a wise or knowledgeable man of the genus, Homo. By ‘human beings,’ I understand that Goenka Ji must mean an obsession with people or another person.
An object of obsession, needless to say, includes substances, money, material possessions, work, philosophies, beliefs, opinions, activities, institutions, religions, rites, rituals and, and.. Anything that causes the mind to be imbalanced, leaning towards a particular direction, whilst neglecting all others that can be considered as part of one’s wholistic self.
Perhaps Easter is a season to make these changes for the better. One may consider themselves as atheistic, agnostic, religious, holy, spiritual, universal. In the end, it is about being a human being. Wanting change for the better for one’s self, for others, for the world, is not intellectualisation and does not remain in the mind only. It is active and pro-active substitution of what does not serve with what does. The essence is ‘action.’ Lamenting the state of the world is a waste of energy and breath. Making positive changes in the world is only possible by making positive changes in one’s self. The first one is impossible without the second.

Some highlights from our just-concluded Wellness Retreat in clean, Kerala, India.

Rejuvenating, relaxing, very nourishing massages and treatments, foods, Yoga and meditation practices. Informative, educational, talk and lecture sessions on Yoga and Ayurveda. Why am I not surprised? 🙏🏼

I wasn’t supposed to be in this place to lead a group of participants for a health retreat.
After a few days of uncertainty, I was led here.
I close my eyes, breathe, and find to know, without a doubt, that this is just the right place and time for this purpose.

If anyone is wanting to join a health retreat in October/November 2026, hit me up with a commited expression of interest.

A health retreat means that all schedules and happenings are designed solely for participant/s. For their health journey. There will be nourishing, healing massages, Yoga and meditation sessions everyday, there will be time for relaxation, unwinding and distancing from the busyness and the daily grind, if this is just what is needed.
There will be time to set you up on a path of truly finding yourself in health.
“All who wander is not lost”, and all who do not wander is found.

I will be there to accompany, guide and support. I will be teaching Yoga and meditation that will be accessible for any new beginner.

Location will be South India, a 7-hour flight from Brisbane in a resort accommodation with balcony ocean views, a 10-minute walk to the beach.
If venue should change, a similar one will take its place.

This Wellness Retreat is getting close. Join a small lovely group of people who are health and wellness-focused.
Practise gentle Yoga in the mornings and easy meditation in the afternoons for 9 days, get multiple massage treatments daily for 9 days, stay on a secluded beach resort, get the meals prepared and served for 9 days. A short instruction on an Alternate Nostril Breathing technique or Nadi Shodhana Pranayama.
The left hand, and afterwards, the right hand, do not need to be in any kind of placement. The left hand can simply be placed on the left knee with the palm facing up.
The practice helps with lowering stress levels, calming down the breath and the mind, so use whenever and wherever needed.

Scientists say Alzheimer’s might not be a brain disease after all:

The common theory that Alzheimer's disease is caused by the buildup of beta-amyloid plaques in the brain is now being challenged by a new theory. Scientists say Alzheimer's may be an autoimmune disease.

This theory is based on 30 years of research. It suggests that beta-amyloid, rather than being an abnormal protein, is actually a component of the brain's immune system.

Its role is to protect the brain from injury and infection, but due to the similarity between the fat molecules in bacterial membranes and brain cell membranes, beta-amyloid mistakenly attacks the brain cells it's meant to defend. This leads to a chronic, progressive loss of brain function, ultimately resulting in dementia.

This autoimmune misfire redefines Alzheimer’s as a disorder of the immune system. The autoimmune theory opens up new avenues for treatment by focusing on immune-regulating pathways in the brain, rather than solely targeting beta-amyloid. It offers a promising new direction for research and treatment, potentially leading to more effective therapies for Alzheimer's disease.

Autoimmune diseases occur when your immune system mistakenly attacks your body's own tissues, leading to inflammation and damage. There are over 80 recognized types, including rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and multiple sclerosis. Common symptoms include fatigue, joint pain, skin rashes, and fever. While the exact causes are unclear, factors like genetics, infections, and environmental exposures may contribute.
