We underestimate the power of eating and drinking in childbirth: keep in mind your uterus is a muscle that is working HARD - give it the energy it needs to do it’s job effectively. BUT - here’s the catch (and this was mine and many other women’s experiences) - you won’t necessarily want to eat or drink in labour 🙈 It’s not exactly your top priority or focus! This is why it’s good to eat when you can / want to in EARLY LABOUR but if labour is long you’ll need extra sustenance later down the road …
Check out this boss birthing mamma letting her support team feed her in between contractions . It might be the smallest of sips or bites, but it will make a difference: especially for longer labours 👍
Get your support team to add nutrients and minerals to your water and pick easy to eat foods that will convert well to energy for your body
