1. Get clear on your length tension relationships. Essentially what muscles are tight and which are loose.2. Get your Core working optimally. 3. Create an exercise program that will support your work or sports environment. 4. (Not mentioned in the video) Eat clean organic foods to your body’s needs. The less inflammation there is the better your body will move and operate and you’ll have more energy. Ditch the protein bars and shakes! Reference: “How to eat move and be healthy” from the . Find a CHEK certified coach in your area as they are taught assessments and programming to a deep level. Have you ever assessed your own body and programmed accordingly?

A quick mini assessment for you to witness how I look at clients when they come in with various musculoskeletal issues.

Jordiee informed me that she had some left Achilles tendinitis so I wanted to have a brief look at what may potentially be influencing this.

After this short look from the standing position I’d have a look at how her body responds on the massage table using a comparative range of motion as well as looking at multiple movement patterns.

A quote I always tell myself is “where the pain is, the problem is not” - as the pain is almost always just a symptom of dysfunction happening elsewhere.

In this one the most critical findings were the scoliosis in the spine and her anterior pelvic tilt which can manifest as pain below in the ankle joint.

Our assessment is normally 2 hours long so be mindful I tried to be quick for you guys here!

The good news is these are all correctable with specific stretches and exercises!

Today marks the end of an era.

Horizons of Health is leaving the Gold Coast and today was the last day .

We ended the day with a session with Scott’s dad, who has been our longest client after recently notching past 100 sessions (go dad!).

His efforts and commitment has been second to none. Always practising his exercises at home and showing remarkable improvement. We’ve gone a long way from doing sessions in our spare room to using this facility and moving into strength and performance training.

And of course it has been a great bonding opportunity ❤️

So lots of emotions in the family as we move to the Sunshine Coast this weekend. We are so grateful for everyone’s support we’ve received on the Gold Coast, for our mentors, family, friends, clients and more.

And very grateful for for having us at your beautiful space. Anyone up Arundel should check it out!

We can’t wait to share with you all our next chapter. But for now time to reflect and celebrate 🥂

IF YOU’RE A WOMAN AND TRAINING THE SAME WAY AS A MAN - you’re doing it wrong!

Did you know there are a number of considerations we must take when working with females for rehabilitation and strength training?

Posturally - women are more susceptible to forward head posture and a rounded upper back. This is due to longer hair, weaker neck extensors and the extra weight at the front pulling the shoulders forward. You must be particularly cautious to not do exercises that exacerbate this.

Hormonally, women have a monthly cycle which changes greatly week to week. During menstruation it’s important to listen to your body and give it the rest it needs as this is a time where your body is shifting and resetting. Failure to do so may result in injury.

During ovulation, Estrogen is generally higher which is a better time for higher energy output based activities. Of course always listen to your body, your conditioning level and push yourself without extreme demand.

There are many more factors we must consider to effectively program exercise for females, these are just a few. Remember to listen in, play with movement, have fun and rest when you need.

Working the whole to create a global effect. 🌏

When working with pain, we want to look at what foundations need to be addressed in order to build from.

Those foundations are breath, core recruitment, joint stability and balance.

We also want the body to be stable, but not stiff. Some people are rock solid and need some ease while others are bendy and need to stiffen the system.

It’s all about balance. ⚖️

Knowing what movement is truly medicine is both an art and a science. 🧪

After doing this for over 2 years I’ve learnt to identify what a body needs to create balance, rectify imbalances and how to build functional strength. 📚

Why do I love the infant development model for rehabilitation? 🔥

When clients come to me in pain, I determine which muscles and movements are not functioning optimally. I then establish what I can use to restore function. Infant development positions offer me a variety of benefits that other methods don’t.

Firstly, infant development works at the level of the brain stem as they are interwoven into the nervous system, so we are tapping into the innate intelligence of the body to reset itself exactly how it knows. 🚀

Secondly, these positions create a positive postural effect when executed correctly. Holding for 2-3 minutes will create a change in the fascial-muscular tissue. 🎯

And lastly, they effect the body positively in a number of ways - “killing two birds with one stone” so to speak. I love this as it is extremely efficient with time which is so important for busy clients. 💥

If you’re looking to iron out some creases, get out of pain or improve your performance, these are next level. There’s a reason why too athletes such as Mick Fanning, Alannah Blanchard and Ali Day are using it. Because it works! What a trip! 1 week of family, travel, laughs and sights. ❤️

It’s been a while since we had an epic adventure like this - and it was apparent as to how much we needed it. ⭐️

After dedicating all our time to work and raising Lyla - it’s been a while since we’ve stepped out and explored a new place. This was so rejuvenating for the soul.

Getting clear on your values for time away and adventure is crucial to stay healthy and motivated at home. Visualise what you want and go after it!

Now we’re home and ready to serve again, with a new sense of energy and appreciation for life.

With a solid intention, guidance and will - you can create the health you desire.

This graph calculates the overall stress through one’s organs and glands based on an in-depth questionnaire. The more red - the higher the symptoms and stress on the body. As health improves - the scores decrease.

This client came in with a list of serious issues such as intense allergies, headaches, menstrual issues and digestive disorders.

She is now far better, has more energy, is ovulating again and is digesting better!

Over 3 months she has committed to her health and created the desired changes. I am so amazed with how things have improved!

Leadership is one of my core values as a holistic health and exercise coach.

For too long health and fitness professionals have said: “do as I say, not as I do”.

I found that many clinicians were giving advice that they had just read off of Google and had not authentically experienced what they were suggesting.

They were simply taking a stab in the dark, trusting an outside source to try and help their clients because they themselves were not willing to do the work to become truly healthy.

This was a turning point for me, as I was lead by my heart to make the necessary changes myself to be able to lead people from a place of authenticity.

I never advice anyone to do anything that I’m not completely sure will work. That’s how I guarantee success. If I haven’t tried it, I don’t often recommend it.

Society needs more leaders to stand up and set the example. I put my hand up to be just that. I want to lead the way for you to grow to your highest potential.

As a coach, understanding the relationship between our lifestyle and our level of pain is crucial.

Often, our sessions involve delving into the depths of our psyche to understand how our choices are creating our reality.

Often there are many aspects that we’re unaware of within our unconscious mind that takes the work of some problem solving and investigation to uncover. Once realised, we see that our pain is often a result of something we’re doing often. For example, maybe that beer on the weekend is creating gut inflammation that exacerbates your back pain.

This is what I love to do - help uncover the sub optimal choices that are taking us away from our dream and potential so we can flip our actions to move us in the direction we want to go.

This is what we’ll be covering in our upcoming online group program. We’ll be diving into what your dream is and methods you can implement so you move forward easier and quicker. We’ll include a 1:1 session so you have the guidance for your specific situation.
